    Would it beat a team of players the Bulls were favorites to land? Nobody could beat the Bulls FA 2nd place finishes. They are the dream team of FA 2nd place finishes.

    I've never heard anyone complain about it before. I don't complain about it but it looks stupid (to me) to wear what looks like dress socks with athletic shoes and shorts. But to each his own. I'm sure people think my Boston Birkenstocks look goofy with shorts. I wear black ankle socks almost exclusively, never knew they looked like dress socks?

    They arent trading a core four guy for Hamels. They just sent Shark out for Russell. I dont see them turning around and trading some of the core four for Hamels now. Theo will try and take the money off the Phillies payroll and offer him a couple guys towards the bottom of the top 10 and just say take it or leave it.

    Still tons to love and read about down on the farm. But, now with Javy in Chicago coupled with the other young studs playing well (Rizzo, Castro, Alcantara, and Arrieta) I'm finally checking the major league game thread first instead of the minor league discussion thread of the day.

    We are also only 4 or 5 games out of the number 1 pick in the draft. I want 1.1!!! Pretty sure we have a tough schedule to end the year as well.

    And Javy. But yes, agreed. Soler already on a major League deal and Rivero is 26. I don't see a reason to start Baez's clock this soon while he is still learning second base. 2nd base isnt that hard to learn and if he commits some errors who cares this year. Id rather his bat work through his required two months of adjustment before his Javy tear.

    Hopefully our last hurrah, one more fecal pennant race down the stretch. Looks like last years thread was started on Aug 3rd as well but we were way back in the fecal race with only the 9th worst record in baseball. Link to last years thread.. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=62285 Right now we have the 4th worst record in baseball but I think we can pump out even the number 1 pick after trading 2/5 of our staff. Don't forget we always close out strong in the fecal standings after our trades for prospects. (similar to the A's and Astros of the early 00's in actual pennant races IIRC).

    I guess disregard my post because the position player FA class, especially the OF looks like a steaming pile of hot garbage. If there was a good bat that would have been fun. I still wouldnt mind grabbing one of the average bats in the OF and flipping the average FA bat if all the kids pan out.

    "Easy" when you have $40M to spend and no position holes to spend it upon. Yes. Slow down. Catcher? What other position would you fill through FA this offseason? I have no idea what the FA landscape looks like but I wouldnt mind adding a good OF bat. Go with an outfield of Soler, Alcantara, and FA signing next year. Infield of Rizzo, Baez, Castro, and Bryant. That could be a stacked lineup as soon as next year and provides insurance in case any of the young guns bust. If Cubs hit jackpot and nobody busts and Russell + Almora are pounding on the MLB door than we can flip either the FA signing for a SP, consolidate maybe Soler & Russell for Giancarlo, incredible amount of options. I love Soler and Russell but if the FA is fairly young it gives us insane options. OF after trade could be Stanton, Alcantara, FA bat, with infield of Castro, Baez, Bryant, Rizzo.

    I know ST and Allstar games dont matter and in spring training a lot of guys are just building up arm strength for the season but could someone put together Javys stats for this spring + triple A + the futures game? Im curious how close that gets him to 550 or so Abs (almost a full mlb season) and what the entire year looked like? I know partially I wanna see this because I think he had a big spring (but that could be 2013 im thinking of).

    That's worse than the DSL SS from 5 years ago or so that seemed like he K'd half the time and made 2 errors a game. carlos henry! i loved that guy. sub .500 OPS and 42 errors in his only season. best prospect ever. Its how I picture Neifi to this day..

    I saw that name on my fantasy waiver wire and it reminded me Jason Lane existed. Had no idea it was the same guy Any chance the Big Z if he had put a few years in the minors focused only on hitting could have made an MLB roster for his bat? I think his bat might have been able to play at a defensive premium position with multiple years seasoning but he wouldn't have hit nearly enough to play MLB 1B (the position it looked like he would have been built for). Who knows maybe he could have leaned down and played corner OF.

    I think you're the first person that I've heard of or seen that has admitted to listening to that show. I'm not quite sure who's worse between the two of them. I didn't even know they had a show till today. It popped up on CSN this morning before I ran to the office and its like Mike & Mike in the morning where you get to see them on TV do a Radio show. For some reason I think seeing them on TV do the Radio show and Kap's stupid facial expressions in his dumb hat made the show even worse.

    Haugh and Kaplan on there radio show discussing a move for David Price. Haugh was pretending he was Theo talking to Andrew Friedman then pretended he was Theo talking to Hoyer an Hoyer responding to Theo like they were three muppets... Anyways, I actually agreed with their thought process for the most part saying they wouldn't want to trade Kris Bryant for Price. But, then Haugh said I don't want to move Soler for Price (I agree), said he would not move Almora for Price (If Almora is the centerpiece in a price trade I'd drive him to the airport right now), said he would think about moving Baez for Price (absolutely disagree). I could why some would want to move Baez for Price (even though I wouldn't) but I cant believe Haugh would rather move Baez for Price than Albert Almora... Am I a jerk for thinking this is so egregious of Haugh to want to keep Almora over Baez? I could see take it easy on a random fan who likes Almora but Haugh is getting paid to do this!
