  1. Here's the article from today's WSJ: To high a price for an inferior product IMHO. :-({|=
  2. Just enjoy the moment of glory, Jake, and don't worry about the reaction on this forum. What he said. 8-)
  3. = I'm sure it was dirt cheap. LoL =D>
  4. This all goes back to the old saying that another poster has mentioned,"don't put all your eggs in one basket." As someone else has also said diversification gives you some protection. What is stunning are the number of very wealthy people who have been brought down by this. Apparently the number of people in europe who were affected by this may be much higher than in the U.S.. Then of course there were those who began to suspect something was phony about Madoff, who then told the SEC but were apparently ignored. Bottom line: you have got to protect yourself.
  5. I dropped the automatic renewal of Extra Innings, and won't sign up for the mlb.tv thing for the reasons many of you have mentioned. The saturday thing is the real problem; I won't be forced to watch a game I am not interested in. I do have XM radio so I will be able to listen. The game threads are always so helpful too.
  6. Sigh. The posts should come really fast and really furious now, from everyone. I can't wait for the season to start. Lots of fun for all.
  7. I thought we were supposed to enjoy our golden years. :rotfl:
  8. 1) I thought he was speaking to the fans. 2) I am a rich white guy; does that give me the right to criticize Soriano?
  9. This. :rotfl:
  10. It's longer than most of us have.
  11. I am actually sad that it is highly probable that I will never see another 97 win Cubs team as long as I live. My dad didn't get to see the Cubs win it all and he lived to be 91. At 60+ I think I have to accept the fact that I won't either. Sort of like going bald; it isn't ever coming back.
  12. Maybe they became fans as an escape from the fact that things weren't going well in real life.
  13. This is what you guys need. A bit long, but it describes exactly how I feel. Enjoy 8-) Shorter version This has lyrics.
  14. You're just now starting to get optimistic? We had a great and enjoyable summer this year, sorry you missed out on it. No, actually I've been optimisitc for awhile. I think I posted a similar thread when there were forty games left on the schedule. This thread was simply done to show that as long as we take care of business versus the Brewers, the division is locked up. A playoff spot has been locked up for the past couple of weeks. But glad you took the time to show some condescension. I've been enjoying this season since April and it's been one hellova ride. Me too!
  15. So who do the Cubs screw if it comes to this? Why do I put it that way? Remember how the Cardinals laid down for the Astros to screw the Cubs? Or the Cubs could just play the best ball possible and let who ever loses blame themselves. 8-)
  16. Bingo. It will be days before fans could make it to Minute Maid. Astros games at the Astrodome were rained out because localized street flooding made the dome inaccessible. If any of you have Direct TV,, tune to channel 361. That has the KHOU coverage of the storm damage. I would enjoy the psychic pain that will cause. Imagine those beer heads having to root for the Cubs in Miller Park. Priceless.
  17. That's not always the case. I'm pretty overweight. I have a large gut, but no ass. My dad is the same way. I think the "no ass" gene is genetic. Then she needs to stop being photographed from the waist down. I don't have anything against Erin Andrews, but her lack of ass is far less troubling than her face. I don't understand why people seem to think she's some goddess. I get it, she's hotter than other female sports journalists, but that's not exactly saying a lot. For the record, I think she's good looking. Just not enough to merit the worship she receives. I used to agree with you, especially about her face, but she's really grown on me. At 60+, I'll take any of them.
