  1. Lost 10-2 to Cuba. Top draft prospect Stephen Strausburg from San Diego State took the loss. Any big shock here? No one ever thinks that Cuba is all that good and they mop up in International competitions. Does anyone wish that Team USA were made up of the best college players instead of a mix and match group of minor leaguers? There were only about 2 or 3 players on that team that I would have considered "top" prospects.
  2. Aaron Rowand? One of the best defensive CF in the game, hits nicely... Yadier Molina? Great defensive Catcher who can also swing the bat... I'm not saying either of these guys would be my first choice, but they could be very important pieces to building a team.
  3. If Soto gets another year under his belt like he has had this year then I would put him on there. RF is pretty thin. Im a big Jeff Francouer fan because of his arm, but really cant include him after the year he has had this year. Hart does put up some nice offense though.
  4. Just off the top of my head, in no particular order, I would want to build a team around any of these guys: Pitchers: Tim Lincecum Jake Peavy Scott Kazmir Chad Billingsley Cole Hamels Felix Hernandez Matt Cain Brandon Webb Johan Santana CC Sabathia Catchers: Joe Mauer Brian McCann Russell Martin Yadier Molina 2B: Chase Utley Orlando Hudson Dustin Pedroia Brian Roberts 3B: David Wright Aramis Ramirez Kevin Kouzmanoff Evan Longoria SS: Troy Tulowitzki Jose Reyes Hanley Ramirez Yunel Escobar CF: Carlos Beltran Grady Sizemore Josh Hamilton Curtis Granderson Aaron Rowand Nate McLouth BJ Upton RF: Hunter Pence Nick Markakis Brad Hawpe Corey Hart Left Fielders and First Baseman can be made by any power hitter that doesnt fit anywhere, no need to build a team around a guy like that (ala the Milwaukee Brewers).
  5. Of course theyre lame, what do you expect when 2/3rds of the city is just a trailer park that evolved into homes with foundations? the whole city is bush league, the Brewers organization bush league, the fans are nothing but bush league. The Brewers should have been contracted years ago. Only for the grace of a really good used car salesman...
  6. You dont think that Theriot has played a part in the Cubs success this year? Im not saying hes worthy of the award, but he is having a very good year. He has been the most consistent offensive performer on the best team in the NL this year. As for Berkman vs Pujols, Pujols might have better counting stats at this point, but Berkman is outperforming him. Creating more runs, winning more games, better in the clutch.
  7. I think at this point, Lance Berkman is far and away the NL MVP. Even if the Astros fade from contention he has to get serious consideration. And if you dont like Berkman because of how the Astros are performing, Pujols has to be first in line among players from contending teams. Hanler Ramirez may fall into the same category that Berkman will depending on how the Marlins finish the season. My top 10 are: Berkman Pujols Hanley Ramirez Ryan Ludwick Pat Burrell Ryan Braun Chase Utley Ryan Theriot Jose Reyes Mark DeRosa
  8. I will say again what I said a few weeks ago on this subject: "If he werent such an arrogant pine needle, I would maybe feel sorry for him. I'm surprised he didnt untuck his jersey when he was rounding the bases in that HR yesterday. As far as CC goes, looks like the Brewers main goal is to make the playoffs and then do nothing else. The way they are using Sabathia, he is going to be useless by October. The Mark Attanasio Marketing Machine must be trying to create buzz for the Cy Young Award for him or something.
  9. If he wasnt such an arrogant jerk, I might feel sorry for him.
  10. Cards - Bob Gibson, Stan Musial, Ozzie Smith Reds - Johnny Bench, Barry Larkin, Frank Robinson
  11. I would go with new teams in Las Vegas and Charlotte (and if the league is afraid of gambling and LV) then Portland or San Antonio perhaps. Then go to a NFL type divisional alignment, 4 team divisions, 25 games against teams in your division, 6 against non division within the league and rotating intra-league games 3 games, and one intra-league "rival" series, 3 games.
  12. Hi everyone first time poster here. Live in Milwaukee but have been a Cubs fan my whole life. More a fan of the game than anything else. Who thinks the Brewers are going to make the playoffs? I dont think they will. I see them winding up 87-77, tied for 2nd with the Cardinals, but also with the Mets for that last playoff spot. Cubs and Phillies win their respective divisions, Diamonbacks in the West. Before you answer and say "they are a great team", dont forget that Manny Parra has never pitched more than 139 innings in a season in his entire life, Ben Sheets appears to be tiring and maybe headed for the DL, Corey Hart isnt hitting like he was pre all star game, and their bullpen is awful (let alone the bottom of their rotation). Tons of games on the road, Cubs should start to run away with the division some time this month, imo.
