    You're right! If somebody could change his Cubs uniform into a Peter Venkman jumpsuit, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

    not yet, hes only tied it and every HR he hits from now on is record breaking, hopefully they break in to show all of his AB's for the rest of his career

    That also shows that Barrett can't see the hand slap, and the TV replays show that AJP didn't come in with his arms high, or say anything to Barrett before Michael grabbed him. We're all Cub fans here, but it's pretty clear that Barrett was out of line. I'm pretty sure Pierzynski said something to him that set him off. I'm interested to hear what Micheal has to say. I really don't think AJ said anything. I think Michael said his piece and just nailed him. In the replays the only time AJP's lips move are when they are flapping around after he got jacked in the face.

    Fully agree with you. That said, it was probably the Cubs only chance to take a shot at AJ. We all know they can't even get close enough to scoring a run to have a play at the plate for somebody plow over AJ on. Terrible, classless move by Michael, but I did like seeing AJP knocked in the jaw.

    I caught that too. First honest and rational assessment I've heard out of Dusty in quite some time. Yep, I agree for the most part with what Baker said, but I don't agree that he said it. It seems he just doesn't understand when to back his players. Even if he knows that it was a good baseball play, I would think he would try to defend Barrett when there is a suspension riding on his actions. I'm glad he didn't defend him there. It would have been more of the same, making excuses for doing the wrong thing. I want to hear Baker come out in the post game and just flat out say they stink, they need to play better, and punching the other team in the face because they play harder than you isn't going to help matters.

    Please. The ball was 10 feet away. Slide around him and touch the plate. How did AJ know the ball was 10 feet away (which it wasn't)? . Exactly. But I'm the one that's blind. Was the forearm to Barrett's face clean during the collision? How about slapping the plate? Was that called for? Or how about when AJ went straight towards Barrett instead of going back to the Sox dugout? AJ deserved it. There are alot of factors involved. Initially, I think Barrett looks like the jerk and what it boils down to is this, the Cubs don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. If they had a team that played like winners maybe I'd feel differently.

He tries, but the Cubs don't need guys to talk, they need guys to play ball. hahaha you need a tissue? Exactly. This is a mens sport, AJ wants to talk trash? He's gotta man up. Time and time again Barrett has tried to fire up the team by getting in somebody's face. It doesn't work. How bout somebody man up by not walking the bases loaded, and then making a pitch to get somebody out after you do.

    Yes it was, only thing even paritially irritating was AJ slapping the plate. Nothing else was wrong with the play. The problem is that the Cubs can't get up for the series (or the season) and the Sox can. Barrett deserves every bit of fine and suspension he gets.

    Right there with you. I'm hoping that we see Hairston more often than not. If the pitching is good, we'll have a chance with this lineup.

    Lee's is a great 1B, but it's not like he's the only player on the roster who can scoop an errant throw. Sure a couple more might get past someone else, but it's not like every bad thow is going to get by now that Lee is gone. In the early goin it seems like the Cubs have been playing with a lot of desire, if they can maintain their intensity and focus, they can weather losing Lee. With or without Lee, it was going to be pitching and defense that help the Cubs win the majority of the games they win. Lee going down just makes needing a healthy Wood and Prior that much more important.

    I always figured I'd be pissed off if the Sox were in the World Series before the Cubs, but like you, I'm happy to report that I still just don't care. It doesn't matter what the Sox do or don't do, it's just like they don't exist.

    I would contend that even if he played everyday for the big club, he wouldn't be playing everyday in the wild-card race

    While I would have used Leicester there (simply so that Fox would be available tomorrow), a major league reliever needs to be able to pitch three one-inning outings on consecutive days. I agree with that, but up 6 is a perfect time to get one of the guys deep in your pen some work. Not a guy you plan to use in your closer by "situation".

    Pitching Chad Fox on back to back days when the team has a 6 run lead blowing a chance to get Leicester some much needed work. And, oh yeah, hurting a guy with a history of elbow problems (though it looked like a shoulder to me). Edit: Up to this point I wouldn't have considered myself a Dusty hater. I don't blame him for some of the situations that haven't worked out, but before he walked two guys, gave up a bomb, and hurt himself, I was asking why Fox was even in the game when Jon Leicester hasn't seen much action lately. Stupid move, Dusty.
