  1. Ideally we want the Angels to get Tex right? I thought I remembered reading that if the Angels got Tex they had no interest in Peavy.
  2. Every winter Sam Fuld gets my hopes up and I'm sure he'll crush them this summer just like he did last summer.
  3. I don't think it's that far-fetched. The free agent market is pretty tight this year, and he's almost a part-time player. jose guillen got 3 years, 36 million coming off a worse season, and he had character issues and performance-enhancing drug rumors swirling around him. The economy was also different last year.
  4. I know we're supposedly closer to a deal than ever, but I have never been more confused about who could be involved in this deal than I am tonight. I suppose that will make it that much more exciting when it happens. :D
  5. Maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but if Santo does happen to pass on before he ever gets voted in. Should it be an honor he got in or a slap in the face because he's already gone? I've always thought it would be a slap in the face.
  6. There's no question that Santo as a player is better than some of the third basemen in the HoF. So it's pretty obvious they don't want to vote him in because they didn't like him clicking his heels. So how does a racist who sharpens his spikes and starts a fight with a handicapped person, like Ty Cobb did, get in then? I just can't wrap my mind around how some of these people got into the hall of fame with the stats they had or the personalities they had, but Ron still hasn't almost 30 years after his first ballot.
  7. I just don't understand why the HoF Committee seems to hate Santo. He embodies everything that is good about baseball. He was a fantastic player and he lives and dies with everything the Cubs do. He's the type of person who should be a focal point of the HoF.
  8. I'm afraid to watch WGN or any other channel that might have HoF coverage. I can't take the look on Santo's face when he finds out he's been screwed over again. If they wait until Ronny passes on before they vote him in, that's going to be the biggest slap in the face I can imagine.
  9. If this Peavy deal goes down like the Roberts deal, I don't want the Cubs to even consider dealing with the Orioles again. Every time the Orioles are involved things seem to take three quarters of an off season. There are other needs that should be addressed before all the good free agents are gone.
  10. Whenever I've heard of a players family member being taken I've never heard of the kidnapper actually hurting them. I know it's not uncommon in regular kidnappings. That's why it's so surprising for me that they killed Henry's brother.
  11. Knowing that his brother was kidnapped because of who Henry is has got to feel absolutely horrible. This is the first time I've ever heard of the kidnappers actually hurting the person. My sympathies to Henry and his family.
  12. I definitely like the way he's hitting, but at some point everyone slumps and that's when it's nice to have the walks to keep up production. I still have high hopes for Pie; I just wish he'd walk more.
  13. Congratulations to Felix for finally taking a walk. I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen.
