They always play up the middle when there is a runner on first. You have to hit it hard to get the ball through. An easy 3-up, 3-down inning there.

Took off the afternoon from teaching to be at home to watch the game. Can't wait for the home opener. BTW, I apologize if Vance has to be in school until after the game starts.

Did Fox start MLB coverage early this year?

I think the biggest reason Fox has baseball on Saturday afternoons now is that ESPN has taken over the Busch Series for NASCAR on Saturdays and Fox is only doing the Cup races on Sunday. Whereas in the past Fox did both until mid-season and then NBC took over the race schedule. Thus allowing Saturday baseball games that include the Yankees, Mets or Red Sox. -

I think the other side of it may have been when he was in Tampa. Referring to the idea of managing a team with younger talent and watching them progress to becoming serious Major Leaguers. Note, may comment may be meaningless if he was going out of his way to play the vets on that team instead of the young players at his disposal. Another thing I noted in his telecast was that he seemed quite fond of the running with fast runners and encouraged the use of the hit-and-run. Not sure if we will enjoy him too much if he is trying to make things happen the whole game. -

Since I live in Florida, I may have to start watching the Marlins because they have a clue about getting young players and developing them into solid Major Leaguers. And they occasionally win a series or two.

Who is the minor league pitcher we got for Todd Walker? What a waste of a very good second baseman. It is also interesting that Philips said the Fathers wanted Walker to play third for them. Interesting, considering he is regarded as a mediocre fielder by many, whether true or not.

Tim McClellan and... Tim McClellan. Speaking of him. I remember during a recent ESPN telecast they mentioned that McClellan was 97% spot on, on his strike zone according to k-zone the previous game he had worked. That is a very impressive %.
