  1. I mean, I don't really believe in anyone actually amping up their skill level during the playoffs, but Lackey makes me WANT to believe.
  2. Heyward was useful. We've scored multiple runs this inning. What the horsefeathering is happening?
  3. Even the Twins could have scored at some point in the last 21 innings.
  4. I see the Cubs are letting everyone down again?
  5. Champions can also not put themselves in the position of playing from behind by not [expletive] the bed two games in a row like the Cubs have.
  6. Our offense is trying TOO hard, methinks. It's not natural anymore.
  7. I fear you have given up on the season. You are starting to rationalize it by telling yourself that it's just a game and that even if the Cubs win it all.........how exactly does anything change? You are starting to think about how weird it is that people get wrapped up so emotionally over something that is just entertainment, and how you'd never walk out of a movie feeling so upset or sad except for the time you saw Marley and Me because you couldn't handle seeing the dog die. Or, maybe, this is how I've been feeling since the playoffs started because I'm a ninnie who thinks about and analyzes the meaning of life too much. It's less giving up and more not making myself miserable by investing in a team that's pretty bad right now. One that I have no control over. And constantly hoping and hoping and hoping on every pitch, every swing that good things will happen is utterly draining to me.
  8. I mean, I hope after the dust settles and we either win the World Series or get beaten, either now or in the next round, people can keep their perspective and remember what's really important in their lives. Your hobbies, your friends, your families, your passions. All of these things are infinitely more important than the Cubs winning.
  9. People are getting wayyyy too bent out of shape over a game. Yes, it sucks. It would be ideal if we could stomp over everyone like the Indians are. But there's no reason things are going badly right now. horsefeathers just happens and if you try to rationalize it or attribute it to curses or the hands of an angry god, you're going to make yourself very, very miserable.
  10. This game thread is exhibit A on why getting emotionally invested in sports teams is dumb.
  11. Joe yelling at everyone really couldn't make things any worse. Just to get everyone's heads out of their asses.
  12. I hope shouting on the internet will solve our offensive woes. ^_^
  13. Someone remind the lineup that it's the playoffs. Hopefully that will give them a jolt.
  14. We all wish there was a quick fix to the offensive struggles. Most of our guys have sucked at the plate. You think they don't know that? As nice as it would be if Maddon could give them a good talking to and have that fix everything, that's not how it works. I don't think there's any other answer besides Russell and Rizzo need to get out of their own heads.
  15. It wouldn't have been if ONE of our horsefeathering deep drives left the park. If Baez is .10 seconds early on his fly ball, we win 2-1. So frustrating. But we got pretty luck last night with Montero, too.
  16. That was a pretty pitiful performance by our offense. Didn't work counts deep. Didn't make hard contact. Didn't make adjustments against Jansen. Seriously, he throws HARD. You have to shorten up your swing and try to string hits together. Come on, guys.
  17. Okay, Fowler. Way to whiff on a missed pitch right over the plate.
  18. Okay, Chapman. We traded for you to be UNHITTABLE in the playoffs. Not pretty good. A shutdown man. An ace in the hole. You have been good, but you are not performing how you're expected to, given what we gave up for you.
  19. Why are we not shortening up our swings against Jansen's heat? Contreras and Miggy had massive swings that were of course late.
  20. The meatbally part of me is upset at these guys for not getting a single run against Kershaw. Even if he's the best pitcher in baseball, that doesn't mean you can pencil him in for a CGSO in any given start.
