  1. Remember last year when we scored a billion runs?
  2. Nah, I'd rather not deal with whiny important members
  3. Why not? I was going to ask this as well, Kawakami is pretty terrible on the road, 6 HR in 36IP, 5+ ERA, there's real no real reason the Cubs shouldn't touch him up for 5+ runs. So now that we've talked about how awful the pitcher is, the Cubs will proceed to score 1 run and lose 3-1.
  4. Unfortunately, that's not a play you can protest. And it was a horrible call....much worse than the Jeter one. What kind of calls can you protest? And does playing under protest really accomplish anything?
  5. I liked Len though "That is the worst call I've ever seen at 2nd base"

  7. I had a dream where they sent Soto, Hill, and Fontenot down.
  8. Eh, I'm glad A-Ram is back, but I think it will take him some time to find his swing again. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
  9. Did anyone catch when they showed the Brewers record their first 15 games, and it said 4-9? Lol TBS.
  10. CUBS WIN! That was a nasty strikeout to end the game.
  11. I know. The disbelief is overshadowing my joy.
  12. Wow, I am in disbelief. That looked like a perfect strike 3, but I'll take it.
  13. Copying the knuckleball quote page from wikipedia: * "You don't catch a knuckleball, you defend against it." ― Dodgers manager and former catcher Joe Torre * "Trying to hit against Phil Niekro is like trying to eat Jell-O with chopsticks". ― All-star outfielder Bobby Murcer * "I never worry about it. I just take my three swings and go sit on the bench. I'm afraid if I ever think about hitting it, I'll mess up my swing for life." ― All-star first baseman Dick Allen * "If cricket players can play spin, I don't see why baseball players can't play knuckleball" . - Senior Baseball Analyst Bhavik Mehta * "I always thought the knuckleball was the easiest pitch to catch. Wait'll it stops rolling, then go to the backstop and pick it up." ― broadcaster and former catcher Bob Uecker * "There are two theories on hitting a knuckleball. Unfortunately, neither of them works." ― famed hitting coach Charlie Lau * "You know, catching the knuckleball, it's like trying to catch a fly with a chopstick." ― All-star and Gold Glove catcher Jason Varitek * "If it's high, let it fly. If it's low, let it go." ―Common saying describing how to approach hitting the knuckleball. * "Throwing a knuckleball for a strike is like throwing a butterfly with hiccups across the street into your neighbor's mailbox." ― Hall of Famer Willie Stargell * "For a knuckleballer, a pitch count of 150 is not a problem. Unless it's the first inning." ― Dave Clark, author of The Knucklebook * "Like some cult religion that barely survives, there has always been at least one but rarely more than five or six devotees throwing the knuckleball in the big leagues... Not only can't pitchers control it, hitters can't hit it, catchers can't catch it, coaches can't coach it, and most pitchers can't learn it. The perfect pitch." ― Ron Luciano, former AL umpire * "Hitting Niekro's knuckleball is like eating soup with a fork." ― Richie Hebner * "You're not expected to hit it. [i am] expected to catch it." ― John Flaherty summing up his day catching Tim Wakefield in a spring training game against the Twins by relaying a comment made by fellow catcher Mike Redmond. Flaherty retired the next day. * "Knuckleballs suck." ― Geno Petralli after giving up four passed balls in one inning
  14. Geez Theriot just take two pitches down the middle.
  15. I thought it was funny that when he threw the wild pitch, he ran a few steps to cover home and then just didn't bother and walked off the field.
  16. On what basis could you even make such a statement? How often do you see every single first basemen in the National League? You couldn't possibly be able to make a good judgment on how he compares to everyone else. I'm not trying to finger you out in particular, but statements such as "I think he is a good defensive first baseman" well... on just anecdotal and observational evidence its very hard to make a strong claim to that. Don't mean to stick my nose in, but he wasn't making a comparative statement... He merely stated that he views DLee as a "good defensive first baseman." He didn't rank him nor compare him to anyone else Sarchasm
  17. Yeah, good to know we can hit against a guy with an ERA of 11, .395 BA against, and a WHIP of probably 2.
  18. Damn I beg you Cubs, PLEASE have a stress free top of the 10th.
