  1. Grossman's scouting report coming out of college gave him good/high marks on his pocket awareness (dont have time to look it up) and avoiding the blitz, but the NFL has changed that. the Minny injury was propbaly the biggest reason, if I can speculate.
  2. I assume you posted that as a favorable sign for Guzman? I am not to sure what else to take from the numbers other then he is healthy enough to throw some decent heat. edit: nvm..I asked if he had lost any speed on his pitches. doesnt look like it.
  3. I'm going to bet Rex would rather sign elsewhere as a backup than come back for another year as the Bears backup. I'd like him back on a team friendly deal, but depending on how the rest of this year goes, I could see going with Orton, Hanie and another rookie draft pick as next year's depth chart. But there's still a good chance Orton will not be able to start and finish all 16 games (not counting mop up duty) and Rex may have to play a significant role this year, and how he performs in that role will significantly affect what happens with him next year. barring injury, I dont see Orton letting go of the reighns. Rex might only get mop-up.
  4. Personally I really couldn't care less if I'm right or wrong about a QB in this town. Show me someone who can play well, and I'll back the guy. I thought Grossman was being criticized for not only the things he sucked at, but also the failings of the rest of the offense. Even so, I'll readily admit I didn't expect this level of play from Kyle and if he keeps this up I would be happy to never see Grossman again. I agree. I wonder if we could re-sign Grossman for a back-up, or if another team will let him start.
  5. i think if Harris is healthy, you play him, period. Maybe no start, maybe not a majority of plays, but you def play him. he still is our best DL
  6. I see the bears having a tough time with Turner (Dusty not impressing, Harris as well, but Idonje (sp) and Harrison playing well lately), but if the offense can continue to grow with orton/olsen/forte we should be able to do enough to win 27-24 bears
  7. Jones has been ok, but he is with a new offense, new teammates, fresh off surgery. he is devleoping. Orotn is progressing faster then I expected, but maybe I expected too little. I wont hide the fact I liked grossman, but i also didnt dislike Orton, I just didnt expect him to grow as fast as he has been. I hope he keeps it up. In other news, Williams had full participation in practice on Friday. Our oline could get much better soon.
  8. But if you assume the team is close to maxing out a budget, Dunn/Bradley/Beltran/Tex won't be possible candidates. You have to go after a pre-arb guy and you buy low on Hermida because you don't have the prospects to go after bigger names. He's always had a sound plan at the plate, good plate discipline and would be prime candidate to return to his 2007 numbers (or his 2008 road splits) if he can play half his games at Wrigley. Plus his trade value is lower after a down season. Jeremy Hermida is the Carlos Quentin of this offseason. :) while I love the prospect of the bold above, I think Fukudome would be just as likely to bounce back, and at that point, what sense does Hermida make? Fukudome can play CF if he does improve (which I think is likely). I don't think you can go into next season assuming Fukudome as your starting RF and Pie/Johnson as your starting CF. o right. I didnt even think to move him to cf in my post above, even though its something I often wanted...

  10. IDK about Hermida. He could bounce back, he might not either. I think if you are serious about a LH bat @ 30 hr and 100 rbi, Dunn is the better bet.
  11. Hendry's likely to go after Furcal again, isn't he? If he gets him, Theriot could be prime trade bait. even if Hendry doesnt go after Furcal, theriot for young would be a very nice trade. cedeno could step in and possibly out hit theriot
  12. while orton may or may not be calling better protection then rex, I dont know, but forte has made a HUGE dif in pass protection
  13. i feel like the biggest difference between last year and this year is Forte/Benson.
  14. how so? injuries? or has he lost speed on his pitches? I havent seen him pitch much this year, so I only really know he is healthy..
  15. meph, or anyone for that matter, what about Guzman? Were do you all see him pitching? could he crack the rotation? Is it a pure bullpen guy now?
  16. teams are scheming towards Fotre, they believe he is our only weapon until Orton proves them wrong consistently.
  17. i am becoming a big fan of orton
  18. The Vikings have a crappy QB and WRs who are always dropping easy passes. Their defense is pretty good, but they're not going to win many games on the road. not to mention BB taking shots at McKinney. they have some in-fighting going on
  19. will dunn be available? or would we have to trade for him?
  20. i like you...
  21. It would have been nice had the Cubs put up any kind of legit effort though. But they didn't. And this is what happened. It is what it is. The Cubs are getting into the playoffs much more often now than in their last 60 years. It gives them a better chance to go all the way, but it also drastically increases the odds of things like this happening. I'll take that so long as they keep putting a competitive team out there. Eventually, you'll punch through. Amen. aahhh...the eternal optimistic cub fan mantra....gotta get my fix.....
  22. AWESOME DICK STOCKTON HE WENT AROND!!!!!!
