Because Wrigley is just damn sexy? You like [expletive] bricks and ivy? I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I think Wrigley is very aesthetically pleasing (from inside). Bricks and green painted steel are about the most mundane, dry materials in the face of the earth. The reason everyone loves Wrigley is because of it's setting, the idea of a pristine ball field, mini greenspace in a sea of city. There is sense of discovery from Waveland, through the turnstiles, up the ramps, and having the field explode before you as you reach the seats. It's compression/release. Layered onto it, a connection with the community around it, a sense of discovery, seeing things that you would have seen 100's of times before in a new way. N&G / derwoods idea of a ballpark near DT, caprini green is more in line with that design thinking, and actually would be a very interesting design study. This is what design is, not what a place looks like, but what it feels like If Theo set out to design a ballpark with only the intention of novelties and ignored everything else, it would suck. But honestly, I don't think he is that dumb.
