    It is though. It's been 2 games. Granted, these are going to be the guys that are going to have to get it done in the next 3 years, but they don't have to get it done today. Even still, they have led all but 2 minutes of time so far this year. Elite defenses don't last three years. You're *lucky* if an elite defense lasts one. lol wut the definition of an elite defense is one that plays an entire season at the top of the league, not 1/2 a season or 1/4 of a season

    I wish Murphy wasn't on it at all. Zo at 2nd, Schwarbs at LF. THAT lineup would score 94,000 runs, THIS lineup is at about 83,456 runs not good enough

    yea, I'd be stunned if Strop is thought of much at all outside of NSBB'ers. #5 might be John Lackey because of his legendary mound melt down in game 2 (I think it was game 2) last year, but not in a good way. a large contingent of cubs twitter rightfully loves strop considering how little I twitter should tell you that I had no idea that was true

    Right, I get they lost draft picks, but people are acting like their window is shut after this year. Mitch will get better, and I think a lot better. A slightly above average QB can win the Super Bowl with this defense(assuming it stays at this level). Mitch probably won't get to that point this year yet and they still will finish with 10 wins. The problem is there will not be an influx of great talent to help make that happen. When you are counting on your team to improve over the next couple years, you generally count on draft picks and free agent signings. Well, they won't have any blue chip picks and they won't have much money to spend on free agents either. It's all on Mitch becoming very good. He can't just be good enough. He has to be very good. He's not projecting to be that at the moment. if they make the playoffs this year, and they very likely could, how far they go will dictate how good Mitch has to become. There is a lot of season left to play

    I'll be at the Sept 29th game drunk as a skunk and yes I agree. I hope we have it wrapped up by then so I can enjoy my day there.

    That isn't because he is getting better. That's because they stopped letting him throw anything other than 6-yard curls and screens. both his QB rating and QBR improved as well. If we are going to bemoan him on small sample sizes then we need to acknowledge him on small sample sizes as well.

    I would guess they don't want his first game against this defensive line. when this DL gets a hold of the paper cutout named Bradford, we may see Rosen regardless.

    lost in the curmudgeonry of yesterdays performance is the fact that Mitch is getting better: a nearly 75% completion rate against the Seahawks. baby steps that I'm sure we all wish were giant steps.

    this may be true so this isn't me saying you're full of it. it's more just wondering out loud. how could a catcher have a hamstring that was physically bothering them to the point they can't run hard and still be catching? wouldn't the constant squatting and popping up just exacerbate the problem ten fold? I would think it would be hell

    I think people are concerned they have the makings of a top tier defense who’s best days are going to be played holding up a sputtering offense. Deja vu of the Grossman/Cutler eras

    This. A horsefeathers coaching staff last year plus people are drooling over Mahomes. Give it 8 games at least, especially with a new coaching staff. This team is a 10-6 team. 8 games at least? This isn't baseball. By week 8 your fate can be decided. This team can't afford a guy who can't make throws. Cutlers greatest apologist. Trubisky under threw an int. He tried to dart a short crossing route that was knocked up for an int. Overthrew one in an obvious completion. But I’ve read that script a 1000 times with Jay at QB. To compare him with Malhomes is stupid. 8 games feels like a good barometer for a 2nd year guy, first year into a complex offense. Look, I loved Cutler, but let Mitch grow into this.
