  1. Yea, they're already out of range for Lawrence. With the Big Ten resuming play, Fields will likely play himself out of their range as well. I guess the QB from North Dakota (Trey Lance) is being talked about as a possible first rounder. Other guys that might draw day 1 or day 2 interest... Jamie Newman (though he opted out), Kyle Trask, KJ Costello, Sam Ehlinger, Kellen Mond.. We'll see if any play themselves into solidly R1 prospects where Pace would feel the need to trade up for any into the top 10 to secure them. if we draft a NDS Bison I'll eat my horsefeathering keyboard
  2. why draft a developmental qb when you can bankroll years of draft picks on the guy who drives a modest car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! full disclosure: Trubisky was the guy I wanted in that draft as well. thank god I dont draft for the bears, but no way would I have traded up
  3. I look to the Bears to re-invent the T formation, but this time with no QB. Its really our safest bet
  4. I find it a bit ludicrous to bag on Foles' abilities in this game. He came into a game with a team he had zero previous history of game time action with. He came into a game with a huge deficit to overcome. He came into a game where there was quite likely a bit of adversity in pulling a QB out of a game that had yet to lose a game this year and already had one 4th quarter comeback on his resume for the year. And yet, he threw 5 TD passes in less than a full half of play. The TD to ARob was perfectly thrown. And I'll never stop arguing that that play should have been a touchdown. ARob had control of the ball in flight and he maintained that possession to the ground. The opponent never had possession and only stripped it away after they were on the ground. ARob had possession and had all kinds of body parts on the ground to rule it a catch. Now, I'm not calling Foles the next coming of Brees here. But, he clearly is an NFL QB who can make solid throws and read defenses. He put twice as many points on the board against the same defense as Trubisky and in less time than Trubisky while also having 2 more scores taken off the board. Foles would have had some amazing numbers if some of his earlier throws were actually caught. Graham dropped an easy one. Miller dropped a perfect throw in the endzone. ARob got his ball stripped away from him. If I had to guess, some of these receivers had a tough time with those balls because they aren't used to seeing a perfectly thrown spiral his them in the hands. Sure, he got lucky on a couple of throws, also, but I've seen the best QB's in the league get lucky on some throws occasionally. They also get picked off once in awhile. Foles is going to have trouble in the pocket with this line occasionally. But, I think he's already got DB's and LB's backing up a bit more since he had already shown he can connect on passes beyond 10 yards. That's what this offense needed. Credit to the Bears coaching staff for making the move and credit to Foles for turning what appeared to be a loss yesterday into a win. Wonder if they will look to the rookie Pierce to replace Cohen. he came into the game against one of the worst D's in the league that were playing simple bar tricks on a young, terribly unsystematic QB. He's lucky to have won the game, and I'm not sold on Foles going forward given his past play, but I would have thought he could have more success against a team like Atlanta
  5. Via reddit: So you're saying there's a chance!
  6. Yes. At least, the softer choice to compete with his busted draft pic Look, Pace being loose with draft capital and aggressive to trade for his guys is a legit fact/criticism. This "actually he desperately wanted to save his skin by promoting Mitch until Nagy had enough" or whatever, plus the other stuff is stupid. Desperate also may have been Nagy pulling Trubisky today, however, but from Nagy's pov
  7. What do you mean what? The fact Foles has had experience working with Nagy makes an easier storyline, but let's not act like Pace is a savant when it comes to draft capital. Blowing up picks to "get his guy" is what he does. "His guy" in this case being the reluctant QB acquisition that his HC was demanding? Again, what? Yes. At least, the softer choice to compete with his busted draft pic
  8. Twins don't play the Yanks first rd! Also, the Reds are probably the sneakiest team in the NL, they've def played themselves back into contention
  9. Yes, Pace was desperate to make Trubisky work, but if he was going to bring in a viable challenge it HAD to be the one who cost a 4th round draft pick and many millions of dollars more than the other options. What? What do you mean what? The fact Foles has had experience working with Nagy makes an easier storyline, but let's not act like Pace is a savant when it comes to draft capital. Blowing up picks to "get his guy" is what he does.
  10. Pace most certainly brought in Foles to push Trubisky, but I'm not convinced Nagy wanted that after last year. Nagy probably just as easily could have gotten behind an Andy Dalton or Cam Newton. I doubt Pace could have.
  11. Not if Nagy was fighting that idea. So Nagy has more control of who they add to the roster rather than who is on the field? Your logic is flawed from start to finish here. More? He has a big say, certainly, but where did I say more? In what world would Pace forcing a Daniels hire over a protesting Nagy make any sense?
  12. Pace looks absolutely idiotic for trading up to get Mitch over Mahomes and Watson. I don't think it is in any way unreasonable to think he would push his coach to make something if him. He doesn't have to make it an ultimatum to Nagy, he could he far more subtle about it throughout camp and the offseason. It would have been much easier to just bring in a typical backup like Daniel rather than someone while not good, but who could outperform Mitch. Not if Nagy was fighting that idea.
  13. My theory is simply this: Pace, feeling embarrassed for the gamble to draft Mitch has forced Nagy to play him. Nagy today said enough. I mean that would be super duper dumb if true. I try not to contemplate super super dumb logic unless I have really good reason to.
  14. I don't really buy that we have no idea how Mitch would respond if he had to spell Foles. We've seen enough of his play to know more or less his ceiling.
  15. I was surprised Mitch one the job at the start because the trade and declining Mitch's extension seemingly pointed towards Foles being the starter. One theory may be that the short camp affected Foles more than Mitch and the extra 2-3 weeks helped him close in on whatever system gap Mitch had. Given a full offseason and 4 preseason games, maybe Foles wins the job at the outset. My theory is simply this: Pace, feeling embarrassed for the gamble to draft Mitch has forced Nagy to play him. Nagy today said enough.
  16. oh don't be so sensitive. besides, your team gets to play a team whose QB has clearly aged past his best years, you should be 3-0 soon. But if you dont win.... Oh, I’m not being sensitive. Trust me. Happy they started out with two wins. Bears get that same aging QB (probably) later in the season, so there’s that. maybe not. maybe it will be Hill
  17. idk, Mitch was having a terrible time reading the Falcons defense, and he sure as hell didnt want to lose the rest of the team. It worked, but I wonder how much of it is how they play down as opposed to leading or earlier int he game
  18. You're referring to the Packers, right? No I wasn't,' but you know that. The Packers beat two teams that haven’t won, so I don’t put much stock in their 2-0 start. But wins are wins. oh don't be so sensitive. besides, your team gets to play a team whose QB has clearly aged past his best years, you should be 3-0 soon. But if you dont win....
  19. Think about everything they had to overcome. Down 16 in the 4th quarter, they had TWO TDs overturned and both resulted in a loss of possession. They made a QB switch mid game, they didn’t get the 2 point conversion that would have made it a 1 possession game. They lost their backup RB and punt returner to a devistating injury. The refs seemed to be way more willing to call penalties on the bears. I rip on Nagy for a lot, and I still will, but keeping his team poised and focused despite all that is a reflection on him Wins are always good, regardless of the opponents. But the3wins are against teams that are currently 0-8 and most 0-9 by the end of the day. Those three teams probably picking in the Top 5 of the draft. You're referring to the Packers, right?
  20. How about Davont...oh wait NALL
