  1. If he gets $8 million per, he most certainly should be viewed as a star. If he gets paid "Ricky" money, then and only then should he be viewed as a "ricky" type of player.
  2. While I understand the frustration and anger towards Dusty; I don't see him getting this team TO the .500 mark much less above it.
  3. I'd start Anderson, and then either K. Jones or Green. Probably Green.
  4. I mean I know teams who are jumping at the bits to trade "top notch players" for a CF who puts .223/.261(!)/.364/.625. Let's face...a Patterson trade won't hurt the Cubs, ala Brock. I like Patterson as a person, but as a baseball player, he is dumber then a box of rocks. You can't teach "baseball instints", and Corey have no baseball instints. If the Cubs could get a decent player or two for CPatt then jump on it. Cause the Cubs ain't getting a TOP prospect for Patterson, that ain't happening. Vance, are you there? Vance?
  5. And a lot of guys say they like playing for Dusty. Bottom line is it hasn't helped with results. I think it's a tremendous stretch to suggest they'd have performed worse without him. Maddux isn't a teacher. The others aren't learning through osmosis. This whole story line is nothing but filler and distraction from the basic facts. Actually, it would be diffusion. Osmosis is the movement of water across a membrane. I agree with you though on this false sense of comfort that Maddux is going to spew forth this wealth of knowledge that will make our pitchers all the next Clemens or Nolan Ryan. I'm still waiting for the "spewing". :pukel:
  6. Mmmmmmmmmmm, chocolate!!!
  7. Maybe this is why we're not hitting. I'm pretty sure that your bat shouldn't have screws in or on it. :-k
  8. "You know those rookies aren't used to playing this late in the year. They simply don't have the stamina that a old codger would have after 5 months of a baseball season". By the way, what's the over/under on Williamsons' arm falling right off?
  9. All I can say is thank God we don't have any rookies playing today. I surely wouldn't want to get "no-hit". Dusty you're awesome. :pukel:
  10. How does every mediocre player become Babe Ruth against us? I don't know how it's possible. I've been told that we have one of the best starting rotations in baseball. Speaking of the starting rotation, does anyone know if Ruschs' option is his, the temas' or is it mutual? Thanks in advance for the help.
  11. I surely am not advocating bringing Burnitz back ( I want him replaced), but where do you get those numbers? He has an OBP of .331 right now, and .349 for a career average.
  12. A quick question for anyone who may know.....The last few nights has there been a chant of "a-hole" during the game? I could have sworn it sounded like the crowd was chanting that. The only thing I could come up with was Chippers' comments about Wrigley. ANyone know if that is what was being chanted?
  13. Our offense cannot get on base, thus we can't score runs at a consistent clip, thus we are mediocre? Just a hunch.
  14. =D> Thanks. That drives me insane too.
  15. Yeah, here is a thought. Keeping your "criticism muted" is wimp talk for not admitting you didn't have the sack to voice your concerns when things were going well. Your assent to moderator is an abomination. Hilarious. Is this blowback from the Goony comparison? :D BTW, JC, you owe me $4 for dry cleaning. When I read this I spit up diet coke on my shirt. :P I have no idea what you are talking about...or something... Check the other thread, where you called Raw an angrier JC. High comedy. I'm going to go buy wine and drink at my desk. Anyone else want anything while 'm out? You are adept at picking up on a complex, muti-thread, carryover insult, but you completely miss fairly obvious sarcasm? None for me, thanks. I just got back from a "working" lunch with Cpt. Morgan. Well you need to get him to the airport ASAP. I'm entertaining some complete drunks this evening, and they're expecting him to show up. These are not happy drunks either. By the way don't you just hate it when you have an intelligent, well thought out, witty insult and you screw the pooch by not spelling a word correctly? I feel like pulling a Farley when that happens and driving the car into a GD bridge embankment. Sorry for the rambling, I've begun the weekend a little early. O:)
  16. Lies, complete lies. I could give the Cards a roster of 14 Neifis' and 11 Remlingers' and they would win the division by 5 over the Stros' and 16 over the Cubs.
  17. I believe that's only his 8th. Neifi leads the team Ohman coming in Really? I did not know that. Yup, and it's a heck of an accomplishment with as long as he was batting behind Corey. But Corey wasn't ever on base in front of him. [-X Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  18. Pi#@ us off?? =D>
  19. The Astros will never lose another game, EVER!! Until the end of time. Since I've been Costanza lately I figure everything I say; the opposite will happen.
  20. =; Cubs suck. They're finished. Wait 'til next year. :eye: Just kidding. Felt like peeing in your Cheerios.
  21. Because he's left-handed, young, cheap and breathing. No link? NOT TRUE!!!
  22. In 21.2 career innings against us, Webb has given up 4 ER. Yes 4. Do the math, the ERA is pretty good. Add that to the lackluster offense, and tomorrow looks like :pukel:
