If we were to go after a Type A free agent, I wouldn't want it to be Cruz. He would be a nice option for a back-up starter if we get Peavy, though.

fontenot? i'm surprised we haven't heard about more teams inquiring about him. I highly doubt the Phils were interested in Fontenot, unless they were planning on moving him right away. Utley is only going to miss a couple weeks, at most. He's out til June.

Get Bradley signed! Please! How's his character been? I'm not the biggest believer in clubhouse chemistry, but that guy is a stark raving nutcase. I hope he doesn't lose his cool, because I fear for anyone around him at that time. He's still a hot-head. But apparantly last year he became a better teammate and a clubhouse leader and was a mentor to Hamilton. I'm sure that would change if he went to a winning ball club.

Watching the ESPN 2 Hot Stove report, Karl Ravech chatted with Bruce Levine, and made me feel like both Peavy and Bradley will be on the Cubs. Let's hope that's the case.

At this point, I'm beginning to say "screw it" to this trade. Our front office knew this was Jake Peavy we were trying to get...he's not going to be cheap. So when we're an "ok" from getting him, they aren't sure anymore? Let's just sign Bradley and call it an off-season. :(
