  1. Heads up base running! Man, this team just seems like it'll be smarter than years past.
  2. So glad baseball is back! I love these noon starts on a Saturday at Wrigley.
  3. Tough loss. Dempster pitched much better than I expected. And from the moment the schedule was released, I figured Strasburg would blow Wood's strikeout game out of the water. That being said, I'm very glad baseball is back. And of course, we don't play tomorrow. Can't wait until Saturday.
  4. Must suck for guys that were fighting for spots all month only to see a guy off the waiver wire being picked up and announced that he's on the 25 man roster.
  5. We won 71 games last year with horrible starting pitching, and IMO we improved it this Off-Season. Our offense took a step back from last year, but I think we'll win anywhere from 70 to 80 games.
  6. Keep him in AAA, call him up mid-season after Byrd or Soriano is gone.
  7. DeWitt to Triple-A Iowa. http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/02/17/blake-dewitt-clears-waivers-sent-to-aaa-iowa/
  8. Good news, wonder what the money is, though. How do you pronounce his last name?
  9. Great deal. I'm assuming he's guaranteed a spot in the rotation. So if Garza isn't dealt, Wood-Volstad-Wells-??? compete for 4 and 5?
  10. It was brought up by Peter Gammons. I now feel dumb for bringing it up. :banghead:
  11. Love the trade for us. Back in June before the draft, we had absolutely no future at 1B...now we have Rizzo and Vogelbach. Cashner was a favorite of mine; it was so unfortunate he only started just one game for us. Wish him the best in SD. Now this is totally out of left field...but with Boras publicly saying he'd like to get Prince a shorter deal so they can cash in in a few years, would it be realistic for us to throw him a two year deal? We could then trade him in the winter or July 2013 and get some prospects. It doesn't seem logical because if a team wants him, they could go out and sign him now, but I was wondering if anyone else thought this too.
  12. Good trade for us. I liked it when the 'Wood for Marshall' rumors were spreading. I'm optimistic about Torreyes' future and eventually being a solid option for the top of the order. Sad to see Marshall go - he's a good person and player so hopefully Dusty doesn't ruin him.
  13. I'm in favor if we get more than just Wood. But would the Reds be willing to give up more after overpaying for Latos?
  14. I'm really glad we're interested in him. I've always been a fan of Maholm. Yes - he doesn't strike out many batters, but he also doesn't surrender the long ball. As stated before, depending on the money, I'm in favor of this move. Would be a solid 4 or 5 for us.
  15. Jerry Crasnick There were signs today (I can't say precisely what) to indicate the #Cubs are stepping up their pursuit of Prince Fielder.
  16. This doesn't really bother me. With that being said, signing Prince right now would be fantastic.
  17. You guys think the Rockies would bite on Casey Coleman for Stewart? That'd be fantastic.
  18. Didn't see this coming. Hopefully it involves Albert.
