  1. Publix makes amazing subs, but their sandwich makers, no matter which Publix I go to, move at about the speed of a dead snail. They're so [expletive] slow. I've once had to wait 10 minutes to get a sandwich made, and I was the only person in line at the entire deli. And every fresh made sandwich has been prepared differently. Whether it's cutting the bread open in a different way, wrapping it before getting it pressed a different way, etc. There is no training involved when having their deli workers make sandwiches and it's frustrating because they're really kind of amazing. So now I just get the premade Cubans, which aren't nearly as good, but I also don't need to waste 10-15 minutes of my life waiting for a sloppily prepared sandwich.
  2. we keep winning at this pace we'll see rickett's dick by early september #tbt http://i.imgur.com/8UehTFW.jpg
  3. Shouldn't have signed that contract, Giancarlo.
  4. The FO has already implied that Baez will be a September call up and won't be coming up any time soon. Also the difference between Baez's numbers now vs. last year is that Baez's swing mechanics have changed dramatically for the better and he's still working out the kinks of his new approach so his positive numbers this year are more encouraging, not to mention the adversity he's had to face this season with his sister's untimely death and the hand injury.
  5. The idea was brought about because he thought both Castro and Russell sucked and needed to be replaced, not because he wanted Schwarber's bat in the lineup to help the offense, which is why it happened last night (and which he mentioned merely as a byproduct of getting Russel and/or Castro out of the lineup, not the reason for it).
  6. Yes. Okay, I'll admit defeat because in one game Coghlan didn't kick the ball around while Yakety Sax played in the background. If you actually pay attention, I said the lineup decision was about scoring runs and that the defense wasn't going to be amazing. Not committing errors =/= amazing defense. Also, Coghlan only had two chances the entire game and he was replaced after 5 innings with Herrera. You're seriously gonna claim victory because Coghlan had two grounders hit at him in 5 innings and he didn't boot them? We scored 7 runs. I'd say I was as much right as you claim I wasn't.
  7. It's a still a move being made on the decision to keep Schwarber's bat in the lineup. That doesn't make it smart. The Cubs' issues over the last couple months has been scoring runs. This is about optimizing the lineup just for that. The defense will likely not be amazing at 2B or LF, but they're punting that in favor of runs scored. And just cause they're doing this once doesn't mean it will be a recurring thing. Plus you made this suggestion on the basis that Addison Russell sucks so don't go giving yourself a beej for thinking you're smarter than everyone else when just a week and a half later you're signing Russell's praises. You're as fairweather as they come and your suggestions are kneejerk nonsense. On July 24th you wrote... On August 3rd you wrote So you can sit here and fellate your own ego all you want, but you're just a fool who throws chicken little nonsense around all over the place, and when one of your several dozen lunatic ideas actually happens you act like you're King Swinging Dick of NSBB. So pump the brakes, guy. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
  8. Well, it works for Chris Davis. So if Starlin takes it he should start hitting 40 dingers, too, right?
  9. You just can't find that kind of consistency in today's game.
  10. Yup. Bryant is basically doing what I kind of expected him to do. Run hot, run cold, strike out a lot, draw a lot of walks. I'm not worried about him. Soler I'm worried about. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs dangle him out there in the offseason for trade if he doesn't show any sign of improvement.
  11. FF to 30 seconds.
  12. No it wasn't, we just didn't spread every annoying chicken little stream of consciousness we had into a new thread every 10 minutes because we realized those thoughts are stupid and annoying and no one wants to talk about them. Yet here we are, a message board full of life, and most of it is spent criticizing Sontensei and others like him for their annoying chicken little stream of consciousness. We also confined everything to mega threads, which are way better no matter what anyone says.
  13. http://m.cubs.mlb.com/news/article/140670646/cubs-addison-russell-makes-swing-adjustments Looking back at one of his early home runs vs the one he had in Milwaukee, it looks like he's a) closed up his stance a bit and b) started to employ a leg kick
  14. I would assume I wrote a nice round 47,000 because my number was actually something like 47,478 or something like that, but it seems they've tacked on an extra thousand and now I'm at like 48,700. Neat.

  16. LD% per month? He seems to be hitting the ball with more authority recently too. Especially to RCF. April (only 7 games): 28.6% May: 20.0% June: 20.0% July: 13.1% Sooooooo yeah he's gotten worse, lol.
  17. That's ridiculous. No one would be upset if the Cubs started spending money, I think a lot of people would be upset. It depends on what they spend it on. if they spend it on David Price, I would not be upset. If they spend it on Jonny Gomes, I would be upset.
  18. Have the pitching results noticeably suffered when Schwarber catches? Looking at the results, it's been a mixed bag. He had some rough results in the middle-to-end of July. Hendricks and Hammel had a couple of nasty outings. But they've both also had some great outings lately. Also, most of the relievers who have performed poorly with him behind the dish are the same guys who would perform poorly even if the world's greatest catcher we behind the dish. Schwarber also has had to catch guys like Clayton Richard and Dallas Beeler, so it's kind of unfair to judge him considering 1/3 of his starts behind the dish come with a musical chair fill in.
  19. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/01/bobby-bonillas-isnt-the-only-deferred-money-deal-in-the-game-and-isnt-even-the-worst/comment-page-1/ Backloaded contracts and deferred payments are not the same thing, you lummox Someone mentioned deferred contracts oh it was Tim. I guess i shoulda quoted him. fcku Then why did you respond to me (who said nothing of deferred contracts) instead of him? Also, isn't trying to get around the swear filter a bannable offense, mods? Anyone?

  21. Not just any Bee Jays, but Liberal Bee Jays
  22. He's still learning to be a proper catcher and all signs point to the Cubs thinking he's capable of being at least acceptable in the long term at the position, and if his bat is as good as it can be while playing acceptable defense at catcher he would be obscenely valuable. sorry i was being sarcastic there When people have trouble distinguishing your sarcasm from your actual opinions, it might be time to start thinking about what you want to say before just vomiting the words on the screen and hitting "Submit".
