  1. A wee bit more than $192 million. And they still might go after Sanchez, and will need to address extending Kershaw at some point as well
  2. I forgot all about Hudson. Between their excess pitching and Justin Upton, they've probably got some of the best bargaining chips any team has had in a long, long time.
  3. What would it take to pry Bauer away from Arizona? If not him, what about Corbin? They appear to be the odd men out of the future rotation that is shaping up to be McCarthy, Kennedy, Cahill, Miley, and Skaggs. They've been looking for a SS. A package of players centered on Barney?
  4. to be fair, his season was cut short by a freak injury this season. He still missed time throughout the year, but the majority of his missed time was due to the line drive to the head. And whenever he's on the field he's a pretty good pitcher. Had he not gotten the line drive injury he probably would've been sizing up 3 year offers for much more money, IMO. I'd have definitely taken him all the way to at least 2/20 to grab him. I mean we're paying Baker $2 million less per season and he hasn't even pitched since 2011.
  5. Can the Cubs try and figure out a way to get Trevor Bauer off their hands, please??!!?!?
  6. @#%$!#$^#!#$ 2/15?!?!?!?! http://allthingsordinary.se/images/original/280__charliebrown.gif
  7. Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg are probably just out of reach for DeJesus. Stanton, too, sadly.
  8. Hawk Harrelson once proclaimed with fervent certainty on a broadcast that "NOBODY IS STRONGER THAN TANK!" while he was hitting around a resurgent Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko. And that was enough to make me hate Dayan Viciedo. Got to see Viciedo play in the minors. He got plunked right in the chest because a ball was headed right for him and he apparently thought "Nah, I can hit this" so he turned as if he was gonna try and swing until he realized he was an idiot and held up and ended up getting plunked square in the chest. I could hear the hit all the way from center field. He was so fat at the time it sounded like Rocky punching the meat. I said all that to say this: Dayan Viciedo kinda sucks
  9. Maybe the Twins are going to overspend to get Bourn now?
  10. This sounds baseless, but if it's accurate then WTF If James shields is the measuring stick for acquiring Wil Myers then surely we have something that can trounce that
  11. Might want to unsticky that free agent contest from last year while you're at it :-)
  12. Angels signed Sean Burnett, 2 years $8 mil And they also signed Joe Blanton to 2 years $15 million.
  13. Holy [expletive] why? "Hey man, all he needs is a change of scenery. Just look at the numbers. The first year of whatever new team he plays for he always plays well." Said the Braves fan I got into an argument with about Justin Upton not being as good as everyone thinks he is because of his extreme home/road splits and him citing the "change of scenery" excuse with Francouer as a perfect (read: only) reason why I'm ("completely, utterly, idiotically") wrong. That was a lot to say this: Francouer huffs dong
  14. File this one under "WTF?"... We just traded our center fielder so we could free up the room to trade our other center fielder for another center fielder.
  15. That was great
  16. The Red Sox can afford to overspend to get their guy after dumping Beckett, Gonzalez, and Crawford. Before the Napoli signing they were $100+ million under their 2012 opening day salary. They can afford to be a little stupid
  17. I'd have to assume McCarthy could land more than one year on a deal, but if he had to go out of his way to mention that then maybe the market on him isn't flush with multi-year deals?
  18. Obviously it's something I'm sure everyone, including Carlos, already knew, but the Cubs are pretty much telling Marmol that they plan on seeking a trade for him this week http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/12/03/the-cubs-are-being-up-front-with-carlos-marmol-youre-on-the-block/
  19. Why even bring up the fact he used to play for the A's? He hasn't pitched for them since the end of a totally different era of baseball. And his injury history has one serious blemish on it: a TJS from 2008-2009, which he recovered from perfectly fine. If the Braves want to get rid of Hudson it's because he's old and expensive, not because he's got any serious injuries, and particularly none that he developed playing in Oakland.
  20. =P~ He seems like a good target for 3B and makes sense the Padres might look to move him due to having Headley. He hit 30 HR between AA and AAA last year and had a .921 OPS combined between the two. Looks like he takes a decent amount of walks too. He's a pretty little guy though, baseball reference has him listed at 5'10" 195lbs. My friends in SD inform me the Pads most likely want him as their starting 2B next season. It looks like they started him there a good bit this season part way through the season, probably once they realized Headley was turning into an MVP candidate and not a trade candidate. Has anyone heard how his transition has gone? Would he make for a good 2B? How was his defense at 3B?
  21. I've been saying Key-You-Gee.. I'm sure we're all wrong.
