  1. Played this game in college on XBox for hours against guys on my floor. is that the one with don't look at me that wayyyy, it was an honest mistaaake or he rocks his iroc-z, he rocks it well...something something finger tapping yeah van halen is the man? Yes it is. The MVP mod soundtracks are pretty bad though. They have horrible selections, though I'm assuming it's comprised of song selections from each of the contributors rather than a moderator of good taste. It';s not that the songs are bad, per se, but the original MVP games, somehow, always picked really good songs that seemed to fit well with the feel of the game. The MVP 14 mod was basically a bunch of EDM and dubstep and like a Bonnie Raitt track thrown in there or something.

  3. Ha, I actually have MVP 2005 for PC and I just recently installed it and got the 2014 Mod for it. Game wouldn't cooperate well with Windows 8 though unfortunately so I got rid of it. But I had played it for years on my PC since I got it back in like 2008. I've held on to it ever since because it actually has value. Found it in a GameStop randomly for like $15. I remember when MLB 2K came to the PC (in 2011 I think?) the MVP Mods community said they were going to stop modding MVP 2005 and move over to 2K. That never stopped people from continuing to mod it. Also, I know we all hated the 2K series, but 2K11, which I pirated because I didn't know if it was worth a purchase, actually wasn't terrible. It was basically a MLB The Show clone with worse graphics. I got a lot of fun out of it for the time I played it. I played the [expletive] out of that as a kid, too.
  4. Is that legal? It seems like it should be. Walden at least doesn't hop so much toward the plate as much as he just sort of hops in place as more of a timing thing. That looks like he's deliberately trying to gain and extra foot or two of distance toward the plate to increase his pitch effectiveness, giving him an unfair advantage.

  6. Chicago (and national) media keeping it real.
  7. Not happening. Nobody is trading a top young pitcher for a package built around Vogelbach, even if he has a great year. Sad but true. Can't remember the last time a prospect came up that was universally considered a DH that had much trade value or top organizational value for that matter. Despite people saying "He'd be great for an AL team" and that possibly being true, I can't recall any AL teams grooming a DH in their system that went on to a successful career or became a primary piece in a deal. Only guy in the minors right now that I can think of who even remotely fits that description is... Steven Moya? Maybe? Only DH guys who are key players in deals are already established as MLB DH's. And most of them moved there after being completely obsolete at playing defense. Would not be surprised if Vogelbach winds up playing first for a season or two on an AL team if he's traded to one.
  8. "If Monday was a strikeout." Lol How in the [expletive] hell can that ump sit there and call that [expletive] a strike You go to many youth baseball games? Nope... but I have to assume in order to umpire an internationally sanctioned ESPN televised little league matchup you have to have a good reputation at your job.

  10. ... he's on my fantasy team.
  11. So either Price is a moron, Hamilton is hurt, or the no pickoff throws thing is overblown? Him not throwing pick offs isn't really overblown . He literally hasn't attempted a pick off since 2013. I just don't think he gives a [expletive] anymore because of his confidence in himself to pitch his way out of trouble. He got BABIP'd to death in the opener so all those SB's that lead to runs scored looked especially bad in that light. .571 BABIP for that game, leading to a 6.23 ERA... but a 1.62 FIP and 2.52 xFIP. He'll be fine, and once he starts putting up ace numbers people are going to shut up about the stupid no pickoffs thing. And I quoted it in the other Lester thread, but I always like to bring up this nugget of Greg Maddux knowledge whenever people talk about not paying attention to runners at first...
  12. Fair enough. I am also assuming that if they don't get him reps at all during the MLB season when it gets closer to Russell call up time, I guess one could assume it's because Javy still isn't ready. At this point, with Russell's ability and Javy still needing to work out some major adjustments, I wouldn't be surprised to see Russell up before Baez.
  13. I'm a little surprised they haven't tried Bryant in LF while he's down in the minors yet. Whatever angle they had with wanting him to get in some LF reps is being ignored so far.
  14. Many are predicting the 17th as his call up date. Though I personally am expecting the beginning of next week as a more likely scenario to get his debut on the road to take some pressure off of him and let him relax, not that he needs it.
  15. If Almora is actually adapting right now, so can Javy. Just might take a little more time.

  17. Wonderful. Now to just get those contact percentages up.

  19. It's gonna be a monumental occasion. There should be champagne in the clubhouse waiting for them.
  20. I see sixth. In 2013 they were 1-0 and 2-1 and in 2011 they were 3-2, 4-3 and 9-8. Haven't been 2 games over .500 since the end of the 2009 season. Blergh, B-R's "Most Games Over .500" probably means how many games have they spent over .500, not how many times were they actually reached over .500. According to that statistic, my statement is right, but yeah they've been over .500 more than that. Six times over .500 in 5 years is still dog [expletive], though.
  21. With today's win this is the Cubs 3rd day above .500 since the beginning of the 2010 season
  22. Are we going to try and make "The Professor" a thing for Hendricks?
