    I'd say Assad or Canario would be the most likely guys to be picked from the group you left unprotected. Assad has some upside, and would seem a decent bet to give you a good number of solid (if unspectacular) innings. Canario is a high upside play that you would hope with playing time he could tap into his power and become an exciting player fans can get behind

    This leaves Little and Smyly as the only LHRP options on the 40-man... not sure who the NRI lefties are... And obviously they have confidence in Leiter (if his splitter is working), Merryweather, etc. against lefties too

    I don't have any hard numbers... but anecdotally, Kyle is right. Hendricks has often (in my recollection) gotten a long leash and had a blow up inning near the end of his starts that it seemed like you could see it coming. He starts giving up line drives and loud outs, but gets another inning and gives up a couple dongs before getting pulled.

    Getting both of them would likely make the Cubs division favorites. However, it would also take them over the CBT line, so I doubt it happens.

    I would expect any Fields deal to include a conditional 2025 pick

    proposed trades for 1: WAS (2, 40, 2025 1st); NE (3, 34, 2025 1st), ATL (8, 2025 1st, 2025 2nd, 2026 1st, 2026 2nd) proposed for Fields: PIT (51, 2024 4th), ATL (43), LV (2024 3rd, Hunter Renfrow) Field Yates with all the proposals... I think the deals for #1 all suck... the Pittsburgh and Atlanta deals for Fields I would do... not the Vegas deal

    OPS+ leaders for players who primarily played 3B in 2023: Jose Ramirez 131 Isaac Paredes 131 Austin Riley 128 Rafael Devers 126 Gunnar Henderson 125 Alex Bregman 122 Jake Burger 120 Jeimer Candelario 119 Manny Machado 115 Max Muncy 115 Burger put up 2.5 WAR (BRef) and Jeimer put up 2.9 - both of those guys (I think) lost value from their time at DH and 1B... both played around 140 games... I think Morel can easily provide that value, and if Morel is playable at 3rd like those two (not good, but not a butcher) it allows greater flexibility at the DH position because you no longer HAVE to use it to get your best power hitter in the lineup

    Goal and an assist so far today against Ottawa, had an awesome go-ahead 3rd period goal that (rightly) got called off for offsides

    who knows if he thinks Morel has a real chance... but there's no reason not to try. It's not like taking ABs from Wisdom and Madrigal is a bad thing
