  1. Trust me Sulley, if Illinois wins the Big Ten you'll be plenty satisfied. no he won't
  2. just in time for PSU to come to town
  3. he joined long ago. His screen name is hardcorecubfan
  4. http://blog.joeandrieu.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kool-aid-man.png
  5. atdhe.net is just showing color bars for the Bears feed. grrrrrrrrr EDIT: I'm dumb, it's not on until 1pm
  6. they also buy houses that even they can't afford, 10 cars, etc., etc., etc.
  7. wish I had this game. Guess I'll have to watch it on the computer (I'm stuck with ATL/PHI)
  8. and not all that surprising. OSU played basically nobody for 6 games and was only #1 due to preseason rankings. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose another game this year
  9. SPURRIER FAIL
  10. How'd they get the first 14? I tuned in to see them get the 3rd TD. returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for the first score, then after OSU punted, just marched down the field behind the running game
  11. Classy. I wouldn't count on Purdue going back to mediocrity anytime soon. I don't think you will fade away. But, I also do not think you are recruiting well enough to be in the top 3 of the Big Ten the next few years. what's purdue's 2012 recruiting class looking like? big and white, I'm guessing
  12. oh god no
  13. wow, Wisky is making OSU look BAD right now
  14. Wisky takes the opening kickoff 93 yards for a TD
  15. yep
  16. and somewhere in New Orleans, a doorman weeps
  17. Riiiiiiight. Hey, have you ever heard of Ed DeChellis? PSU is loyal to a fault. Also see: Portland, Rene. that's because they're not paying those people anything. Sure, if they can get some cheap upstart coach from a mid-major conference who is willing to coach for $300k/year, they'll keep him forever. I think that's your reality. I can't see them dropping a few million on anyone, and if they do, that coach will be on an extremely short leash
  18. Pat Fitzgerald is in his 5th year at Northwestern and isn't going anywhere. Rich Rodriguez is in only his 3rd year, but the guy before him was there for a dozen. Virginia has a new guy but the man before him was there for 9. USC has a new guy but the man before him was there for 8 years. Derwood, you were wrong that every team gets a new coach every 3-5 years. Some organizations are in perpetual state of turnover. A lot of them have very stable situations. Also rans like Rutgers and Illinois have coaches with 6 and 10 years in their position. I'm shocked that you're pushing a small comment into a full blown argument! So unlike you! My point was that Bowden/Paterno were the exception, not the rule. Maybe 3-5 years is more like 5-7 years. Who cares? It's not 30+ years anymore. PSU's new coach will last as long as he's winning 8+ games a season and winning bowl games. As soon as there are back-to-back seasons where the coach fails that, boosters/fans will be calling for them to be replaced. PSU will be no different than every other school in that regard. THAT was my point And you're wrong. 5-7 years is very stable for any job in America, and many college football coaches are in place for even longer. It's just a myth that there's all this crazy turnover every year and every coach is always on the hot seat. Hell a lot of the turnover is because guys use a job as a stepping stone anyway. College football is littered with long tenured head coaches. PSU may run through their next guy in a relative hurry, but probably within 2-3 hires they will have another long term guy. He won't go 30 years, but he'll be there for a very long time. unless the team is bad, in which case he'll be run out of town.

  20. Except for the fact that "every other school" doesn't get a new coach every 3-5 years. most do. Outside of Paterno and (as of last year) Bowden, who is the longest tenured coach in Div 1-A? Frank Beamer (Va Tech), who was hired in 1987. Only 5 other coaches (out of 120 schools) have been at their position since the 90's. That's 10 years. 93 of 120 coaches have been at their school for 5 or less years

  22. I don't think the job security at PSU goes beyond Paterno. Once he's done, PSU will go through a new coach every 3-5 years just like every other school
  23. aren't squats one of the most important lifts in any weight training workout? I do them every time I go to the gym
  24. He made a good point about naming names: if he just said "I gave some kids some cash", no one would pay attention to the story. It took laying out all the details in order for SI (or anyone) to take notice of the story
