  1. Piniella let his starting pitcher pick the uniform, so we saw the horrible blue jerseys a ton (Zambrano always chose it, as did someone else). I'm fine with a jumbotron as long as they keep the organ. I think the non stop, blaring music at parks like The Cell is far more grating than any visuals.
  2. My oldest daughter was 4 months old when I joined. She turns 10 this Sunday
  3. I have a friend who has the same "blow it up" mentality. He's convinced that no one will ever beat the Heat, so we should start over from scratch or something. I ask him why we should waste 2 or 3 of Rose's prime years and he never has an answer
  4. Same reason Cubs v. Pirates games are blacked out on Extra Innings in Columbus?
  5. That was delightful. He even seems jammed a little and still just brutalizes it out. I like the guy who stands up and salutes it (during the replay)
  6. winner
  7. ITT: everyone poops on Baltimore
  8. Columbus getting out of the Western Conference would be a good thing for them
  9. Columbus would be half way decent if they had any goal scorers
  10. How can you hate Penn State this year? They are completely terrible and have zero players who are even remotely dangerous. Once Frazier went down, their winlessness was sealed. It's too bad that they probably won't luck into another Talor Battle
  11. Campana doesn't even sniff that speedy dude on the Reds, though, right? Campana isn't the fastest guy around by anyone's measure
  12. tl;dr Dodger money plz
  13. White Sox had Dye/Griffey/and Wise in like 2008. Dodgers had Kemp/Gynn/Hairston Jr. on the team last year (guessing they started at the same time at least once in the OF) and had Kemp/Pierre/A. Jones a few years ago as well. Phillies had Mayberry Jr./Brown/Pierre last year. Andruw Jones isn't African-American.
  14. Jesus, I wouldn't recognize 90% of these guys if I passed them on the street
  15. Jordan dominated in an era of great centers. At 6'6", he thrived in the post against amazing defenders. LeBron is a freak of nature, but who is challenging him in the lane?
  16. a $12m salary for his age 35 season makes the contract a lot less desirable? that's pretty small potatoes unless he becomes completely unproductive in 5 years. Speed guys tend to not be so speedy by that age. And it only takes 550 PA for the option to kick in. It's not a terrible option for a larger market team, but the Indians may regret it. Apparently it's the reason the Mets cooled on the deal
  17. Bourn's vesting option makes that contract a lot less desirable, IMO
  18. That's unfortunate and awkward even WITHOUT the PSU connection
  19. He should have special hitting sessions with Cory Snider and Pete Incavigilia
  20. Blue Jackets FINALLY fire their GM
  21. Does that mean the SEC teams will now schedule 3 per yet instead of 2?
  22. Giving your fan base blue balls isn't a great marketing strategy [expletive] that nonsense; the point is that he needs to get back out there just to get back into the swing of things quicker. Sitting him the whole year if he's actually healthy for part of it accomplishes [expletive] all. If you bring back Rose for the regular season and it gets you, say a #3 seed in the playoffs, then you sit him, that seems like a royal tease. I'd rather sit him UNTIL the playoffs and see if you can't catch lightning in a bottle.
  23. Giving your fan base blue balls isn't a great marketing strategy
  24. Sure, but the Big Ten wont get that luxury unless the other schools improve. I'm not saying he's being altruistic here, but he's not wrong about the conferences strength vs. the SEC
  25. He's not wrong. He's lapping the field in recruiting already, and the overall B1G recruiting is pretty awful Lapping the field? He's a new coach at one if the top historical programs coming off a 12-win season. And UM is just a few spots behind OSU. Plus, has he really recruited better than Tressel did most years? He landed a pretty puff gig. Let's see him land a top-10 class at Purdue and then run his mouth. Exactly. Derwood could land a top-10 class at OSU. They always recruit well and the state of Ohio is one of the best in terms of high school talent. How many out of state 4 and 5 stars did he sign? 13. How many did Hoke? His point is that the Big Ten (or any other conference) will continue to be second rate to the SEC as long as the middle and bottom schools make far better efforts in recruiting. He doesn't even touch on how little effort some schools put into coaching and facilities
