Right now he's in non-guaranteed contract territory, most likely third round. A full year of punking the god-awful Big Ten and another run at the NC puts him in the guaranteed $20mil top 10 pick territory IF all of that happens AND IF he beats out JT AND IF he doesn't get injured at any point The local sentiment is that he wouldn't have stayed had Urban not basically told him he would be the starter (and JT the backup)

The red flag with Mariota, IMO, is the question of his ability vs. "system quarterback". You can count on one hand the number of successful NFL QB's who came out of spread option college offenses

Cardale Jones only has two days to decide if he's declaring for the draft (underclassmen deadline is 1/15). Not sure if that's enough time for him to get enough feedback to make the leap

should be pretty simple: hold onto the ball until you're on the sideline. I don't even get the "cool" factor of dropping the ball right away after scoring

Unless he's transferring out of Division 1, he'd have to sit out a year and be two years from the draft. Right but he'd sit a year, then play a year and be like every other 5th year draft eligible QB. Though transferring to a top FCS program would be an interesting move. I REALLY think that's not a rule anymore. He is immediately eligible. I REALLY think you're wrong. Of course it's still a rule....otherwise, players would constantly transfer to other schools the second they don't like their playing time

No. Then again, Urban has said that Braxton WILL be back, when it's clear he won't, so I wouldn't believe anything coming from the OSU camp on the QB situation

Matt Cassel had 33 pass attempts at USC and got drafted Right, but he exhausted his eligibility. Cardale isn't turning pro early to be a 7th rounder. I brought this up last week. The local radio show asked Adam Schefter what the chances of him going pro were, and Schefter didn't even know Cardale's name, and said that he had heard no NFL people talking about him at all (and this was after the Sugar Bowl). Maybe tonight changes things, we'll see
