I didn't like the pick. Don't think Trubisky is going to be good. But, giving up a 3rd, a 4th, and a future 3rd? That's a small price to pay to get the assurance you got YOUR guy. Those picks can(and mostly were) recouped. SF's guy was Thomas. You could've let SF pick at #2 and still picked Trubisky. Who else was going to trade up to #2 for him? If the Browns wanted him, they would've taken him at #1. The Jets didn't even take a QB. HOU and KC would have had to give up a ton more than the Bears did to move up that many spots. If SF is saying "we have people on the line who want to move up to our spot" you say, "cool, if another team trades up for Trubisky, we're taking your guy (Thomas) at #3" and call their bluff

The more time there is to think about it, the worse the trade up for Trubisky looks. Rookie GM Lynch looks like he fleeced Pace here. Whatever story he spun about other teams wanting to trade up to #2 worked, but it was all BS and the 49ers got their guy AND a bunch of picks. What a mess

It's a big knock though, because you only have 13 games worth of tape to evaluate him. It's also a question of what you consider to be a "franchise" quarterback. Was Cutler one? Is, say, Ryan Tannehill one? Where is the line drawn for what qualifies?

Better side with "draft expert" Sulley lol why do people get so upset about their draft predictions? Even the real pros miss on picks all the time. It's not some badge of honor to get one right or some black mark to get one wrong if you're just some average joe. I'm not upset at all. Everyone here is an average joe, which is why I think it's funny that some average joes' hot takes on the draft are actually valued above others here

Answer the question. Trubisky was rated fringe-first rounder after the season. He just got picked #2. What (besides hype) made him jump so high? What about his tape makes anyone think he's worth 4 draft picks? What franchise QB's in the NFL had this guy's limited resume? Workouts and scout evals? And many services had him pegged as top 10 after the season. The guy has the goods, size, quick release, accuracy, and speed. I'd be thrilled if I'm wrong about this. Thrilled. Sure, if you use the outlier rather than the vast vast majority of successful NFL QB's, your logic is sound Do you even know what an outlier is, Derwood? I'd define an outlier as a 6th round draft pick being the best QB in NFL history. You?
