  1. I could also see the Cubs with a sweep, prompting them to make a foolish, short-sighted trade that doesn't actually get them to the playoffs but weakens them in the long term
  2. Just tuned in. So glad to have missed Giardi all day
  3. They went like 30 years without a good 3B, got a decade worth of All-Star play between Aramis and Bryant, and are now back to third base purgatory
  4. No fingernail polish. Clearly an imposter/AI generated
  5. He's such an enigma 2023 vs. 2024 K% better BB% better ISO worse BABIP waaay worse wOBA worse xwOBA better
  6. It's amusing seeing the social media "takes" on Morel. Everyone thinks he's the worst hitter on the team, strikes out more than anyone, etc., etc. Truth is that he's 3rd on the team in K's (behind Busch and Happ) and just two more than Swanson. He's also the unluckiest hitter alive in terms of expected hits vs. actual average
  7. National Anthem singer checked herself into rehab after her performance. No, seriously
  8. Just for funsies, I kept going back through the champs and the White Sox in 2005 were the first team I found who was outside of the top 10 in fWAR who won the title. They were 20th (crazy)
  9. Huh? 50% of a sample of teams that were all top 9 out of 30 is not "chance level".
  10. WS Champs (team fWAR rank) 2023 - Texas (2nd) 2022 - Houston (6th) 2021 - Atlanta (8th) 2020 - Los Angeles (1st) 2019 - Washington (5th) 2018 - Boston (3rd) 2017 - Houston (1st) 2016 - Chicago (1st) 2015 - Kansas City (9th) 2014 - San Francisco (6th) 2013 - Boston (1st) 2012 - San Francisco (3rd) 2011 - St. Louis (7th) 2010 - San Francisco (6th) And so on. 50% of the teams I listed were Top 3 in team fWAR. All were top 10.
  11. It's not a "top 12 teams in WAR make the playoffs", no, but you're using an outlier as proof of...something
  12. You literally said "WAR should not be the primary consideration in building a team" and "Find the best players" in the same paragraph as if they were opposing ideas
  13. Then I don't know what your argument is.
  14. But players with good WAR ARE good players
  15. because in their stupid brain, 79 homers is more exciting than 25
  16. YUP. Bottom 6 teams in overall fWAR are also the 6 teams with the worst records in the MLB. It's pretty predictive.
  17. Yes. Great defense and a truckload of dongs
