  1. maybe they got the optimist's heart started again. And here I had left him for dead....
  2. can we PLEASE move Ramirez back up to cleanup?
  3. 5 pitch at-bat. That's like 10 pitches for most teams
  4. Gotta keep being aggressive and maybe we'll catch some breaks. c'mon, let's be fair. Prior has been injured!
  5. eternal optimist would say "they had their chance at zambrano in the 1st, now he'll be nails" but that optimist was killed in Florida on Sunday
  6. Z throws 4 walks vs Hudson throws 1 ball discuss
  7. Hendry gave him a 3 year deal because he LIKES him, not because he was forced to compromise. Jim doesn't feel he's stuck with Jones if he likes Jones to begin with.
  8. at least heroin gives you some goodfeelings while you're addicted
  9. i thought Baker had cornered the market on thin-skinned-ness
  10. Ouch! The biggest reason I have missed so many games this year is because of work, but I can only remember 4 times where I have been home while they played and I actually watched them (out of maybe 12-15). Only once did I watch the entire game. i bet they lost all 4
  11. Robinson was crying because no manager likes to pull a guy, especially mid-inning.
  12. Shhhh!!! but, but, he's fast and can catch the ball!. I hear he's an ace bunter as well. Plus he can play multiple positions!
  13. Why stop at Carlos Lee? Let's get all the Lees! Cliff Lee Travis Lee Derrek Lee Carlos Lee.
  14. I hear Pokey Reese is available, let's get him.
  15. Hank White and his .051 batting average are now in the lineup! Can he please bat 9th? Seriously. Can Barrett play while he appeals?
  16. When LaRussa retires, they should replace him with whoever was on deck when McGwire hit #62
  17. Cuban bought the Mavericks when they were the laughing stock of the NBA (pushing 70 losses if I remember correctly) and turned them into a perennial contender. He's by no means perfect, however. His most egregious decision, of course, was when he let Steve Nash go in order to spend the full boat on Eric Dampier. Still, there are few sports franchise owners with as much passion for winning as Cuban.

The exception that proves the rule? just sayin... It's already a good defensive team, so Wallace wouldn't need to shoulder the load. On the other hand, what the Bulls need is a big man who can score, and that's not wallace
  19. no, but setting record attendance #'s with a 70 win team isn't incentive to go out of their way to win either. Until the ticket money drys up, we get token effort I don't think they're naive enough to think that near-capacity attendance will continue. And, in fact, it hasn't this season. They're only averaging 95.4% of capacity so far. They've only been over 3 million for two seasons and will be again this year only because of the increased capacity. They didn't even break 2.7 in 2002. There isn't much of a reason to believe that attendance won't suffer if this keeps up. If that happens, the Cubs will be losing a significant amount of potential revenue. i hope they do
