  1. Casey would be my personal choice at this point, however, why don't they just wait another few days till the finals are over and interview Tom Thibodeau? At this point what is the harm in waiting?
  2. Agreed. I want to punch his old ass in the face. How much does he have on the Dodgers tongith $$$$????
  3. For the life of me, I can't understand why so many cronies in baseball object to him as an owner.
  4. podcast is up http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/player?context=podcast&id=3429359
  5. lmao, I had to think about that for a second...I saw Ohio and was thinking the Cav's...how about Lebron to the Bulls for the #1 pick and Deng..hell why not, they are losing Lebron to Jay Z in a few years anyways.
  6. ha, I guess the media(I'm looking at you Mark Jackson) is still having the audacity to suggest that Kobe belongs in the same discussions as Jordan..too funny....
  7. From a broadcasting standpoint, I agree 100%. As a fan though, you have to appreciate his genuine enthusiasm and love for the Cubs. His enthusiasm for the game in big moments? Sure. But for the 10 times a year we get to hear him yell "YES!", there's 10 times a game where his stupid, rambling, incoherent stories cause Pat to ignore three plate appearances. You can sense his enthusiasm even when there isn't much going on. The good thing about their broadcasts - and one of the things that makes Hughes a great play-by-play guy - is that Hughes know when and how to interrupt Santo to give play-by-play without being rude about it. Whenever I get annoyed with Santo's style, I remind myself that it could be much worse. We could have Hawk Harrelson in the booth. I think I'd rather have Hawk...I guess its a choice between Santo's rambling, and Hawks 20 minutes of silence. I'll take the silence.
  8. Santo is brutal, just brutal...in addition to his moaning and groaning in the booth he offers 0 analytical input in the game...hell even Pat Hughes tries to help him out. Pat: Ronny, the Cubs have had a very efficient offense this season, and tonight should be a good matchup for them as the opposing pitcher has struggled with his control this season..., that should bode well for a team that has become very patient and is amoung the league leaders in On Base Percentage...Your thoughts? Ron: Yeah.....
  9. I trust Wilken, I mean, look what he did in Toronto..nuff said.
  10. So I guess this kid is a "ballplayer". Well that is great news...I can't wait to read about the stuff he does that doesn't show up in the box score.
  11. not to mention this organization has been a complete joke since June of 1998 despite sitting on a gold mine of financial resources brought it by the Jordan Era.
  12. He could be even more valuable as a starter........
  13. Why? The post above yours aptly covers my reasoning. Huh? A weird comaprison to the NFL Draft is your reasoning? Nobody knows how any of these kids are going to turn out. They are not many guarantees in the MLB draft. To be too high or too low about a pick at this point doesn't make much sense. Let it play out. How is a weird comparison? It is about the impact a player can have on a given game. 1) A reliever does not have the same impact as a SP prospect or position player 2) They have been proven to be extremely volatile over the course of their careers. If he was drafted as a starter it doesn't help the case at all because his #'s are not impressive at that position.
  14. Different sport..but I think this pick is much like the Raiders drafting Janikowski in the first round a few years ago..yes he has been success as a placekicker, but it still wasn't a great pick...because a kicker isn't in a position to provide as much value to the team as traditional player.
  15. I'm convinced that enventually Jordan would have manage to win multiple rings regardless of who Tubby surronded him with...even so, if they did manage to put some good pieces around Jordan, they are also responsible for breaking up the dynasty because of their fragile ego's.
  16. He can play multiple positions(in a "pitchers" sense)
  17. Are you assuming Lebron = Jordan?
  18. Their scouting director is one the best (2nd to Logan White, IMO) I'm scared to ask where Wilken is placed :) I'm actually a fan of Wilken's. In his Blue Jays days right?
  19. They did luck into a certain player.....
  20. Does it matter? Tim Wilken has been nothign but crap since his arrival here.
  21. Hypothetically, if Smoak was on the board when the Cubs pick, Wilken would probably pass as well.
