  1. He'll break out in the playoffs and it'll be awesome. He'll break out in May and it'll be awesome. He'll break out when it gets warm and it'll be awesome. He'll break out in the 2nd half and it'll be awesome. he'll never break out I'M TRYING TO BE FUN AND OPTIMISTIC AND YOU'RE RUINING IT
  2. This game is annoying. Stop being annoying game. Get to the part where Cubs hit dongs and we all have fun.
  3. He'll break out in the playoffs and it'll be awesome.
  4. I like the thing where JD kinda subtly makes fun of the White Sox.
  5. Wood blowing an 8 run lead or something like that is always on my mind.
  6. ive never been a huge fan of home run robbery (with the possible exception of 90's indians lofton and trout). more dongs for all. I like them ( except that one of course) I like my dongs big anyways.
  7. a 7.5 game lead in late july by the clearly better team isn't insurmountable, but 6% isn't nothing, either. I mean we always were likely to win the division at this point but i don't see anything wrong with making the team better for what we gave up. horsefeathers isn't over til it's over.
  8. I'm not really sold that we actually have a 94 percent chance of winning the division, I'm not trying to be an anti stats guy at all, I'm far from it but I don't see a 7.5 game lead as insurmountable at all and I've seen too much crazy horsefeathers in sports to think we got it figured out statistically so I'm okay with improving our team to even win the division. I also think there is value in turning games into 6 inning games. That horsefeathers would wear on an opposing team mentally, especially if out offense and starting pitching are on. I don't really think we gave up that much to get such a good player even if it's for 2 months. From a baseball point of view i personally like the deal.
  9. it's not about "Torres", it's the perceived value of each piece. Chapman is only signed through the end of the year so the concern is that, while he is a tremendous value, we may be parting with more value than we should for the marginal short-term upgrade I understand the criticisms of the trade but i think there's a bit of hyperbole being used in this thread. I mean, Chapman is really horsefeathering good.
  10. I think Theo had discovered a magical code that says Chapman breaks crap shoots.
  11. I don't know horsefeathers about baseball compared to many here but i can't that emotional over losing a current single a player.
  12. The idea of a 6 inning ballgame where we already have the best offense and a really good pitching staff is a nice one.
  13. 1.1 innings and 9 runs allowed. Ouch.
  14. Not really. I prefer women who are victims to have justice and voice and would be willing to sacrifice an athlete who is still going to live a pretty prosperous life having some negative publicity every once and a while to attain it. I'll agree with your first part 100 times out of 100. Will never agree with your second part. In a perfect world it wouldn't work that way but in my eyes there's going to be give and take. That's the way I'd prefer it to be in that situation.
  15. Eh, that Blackhawks team always felt tainted to me. I love the rest of the Cubs team but this is gonna feel weird. I'm pretty sure you follow the Hawks pretty closely so pardon me if I'm not buying how much moral heartburn they have caused you It's been expressed that a lot of people root for the jersey over the individual and lots of people had issues with Kane on the team. I don't think you're making the great point you think you are.
  16. Women have gotten pretty [expletive] over when it comes to stuff like this. If he didn't do anything (which would be surprising) then oh well, the guy is a millionaire who plays baseball. He'll be fine. If he did it he still is a millionaire who plays baseball. That's a huge reason why in today's day and age people take one side so vehemently and I personally don't really have a problem with it. Am I reading correctly that you are saying even if a woman makes something up, it's not a big deal for the athlete because either way he's making millions? Not really. I prefer women who are victims to have justice and voice and would be willing to sacrifice an athlete who is still going to live a pretty prosperous life having some negative publicity every once and a while to attain it.

  19. I hate the Cardinals and am enjoying the first inning but I almost, kinda feel bad for him.
  20. Wasn't there more gray area with what happened with Castro? If we win it all, even if he gets the final out I'm just going to be happy that Cub fans and the players I like are happy and just ignore the horrible person who throws really, really hard.
  21. We're 6-3 in our last 9 games and a good chunk of those were against good teams and people keep acting really weird because a pitcher struggled in the first inning which happens a lot. Some people aren't really cut out for this sport. It's frustrating to watch a bad game, but even more frustrating to watch a boring bad game right after a boring bad game the night before. I know they're a very good team, but I'd enjoy a romping of a [expletive] team when it's a lazy weekend afternoon and I can actually watch the game. I get that. I'm more referring to people acting like this game is over.
