The last few years, as sad as it sounds, has taught me that the regular season is pretty meaningless. Nothing wrong with being a spoiled fan when it's true. Conversely, April baseball games fall short of attention levels compared to hockey. No one should blame anyone for not playing close attention to October hockey. Mid November for that matter. Half the teams make the playoffs. Regular season hockey and basketball are boring because of this.

Thank God the Cubs don't have my intestinal fortitude. I can handle the regular season now because I get how it works but this crapshoot randomness is the worst. So much up and down. I guess that's what makes it fun.

This is a stupid narrative. The Giants are a statistical anomaly and they certainly don't have any more 'grit' than any other team. Just because they've pulled off upsets before doesn't mean they have the innate ability to. Right, I'm not talking logical outcomes. I'm talking about my comfort level when my team chokes all the time and their team overcomes odds all the time.
