  1. Yep, it's amazing that some people overreact so much. especially if they are even remotely familiar with baseball.
  2. And if that happens what are the odds that there will be a 10 page thread complaining about the Cubs winning too many games so they won't be ready for the playoffs or something like that?
  3. Let's not screw up this inning please.
  4. Really? Absolutely. Bad strategic moves + burning out good pen pitchers in non-critical situations + overreacting to short samples constantly. But he yells, gets ejected and is old and stuff.
  5. This goes back to needing to call Murton up.
  6. I'm predicting the Hank White three run homer.
  7. you should have gone to work today I wouldn't have missed much. You would have missed a comeback win.
  8. We can overcome two runs, have to hold them though.
  9. Wow, I though we release Glendon Rusch
  10. It'd be nice to keep them from scoring because we are going to get to the pen who was used quite a bit yesterday and the day before.
  11. As well as Lee has been hitting, he probably figured Derrek would put the bat on the ball. I don't particularly care what Lou's rationale is. This team is better off if we never attempt a hit and run all season. Lou really needs to stop calling for a few each game. With an ump using a tight strike zone and pitchers throwing so many balls it's foolish to hit and run. You don't really need that qualifier at the beginning, IMO. It's a good strategy if used correctly. There is never a good time for a hit and run. Now if you want to change it to Earl Weaver's run and hit, you might have a case. 3-2 with two out is a good time.
  12. He went 2/3 with a 2B, 2 RBI, and 2 walks last night... I guess after that first week just about anything could be considered a "slump" He's doing great. I really wish he would bat in front of Lee and Ramirez though.
  13. I know he got out but it seems like everyone of Fukudome's at bats go to 3-2.
  14. I can't find the article right now, but I'm pretty sure that the work of Dan Fox over at BP showed that the Cubs cost themselves more runs than any other NL team by being caught stealing so much last year. A lot of those are busted hit-and-runs. Someone should cut off Lou's arms so he can't call for a hit-and-run ever again. Someone print out that article and send copies of it to everyone on the Cubs' coaching staff.

  16. I love Ron. I wish they would get a color up there who actually knows things to go with Ron though.
  17. Considering Theriot hasn't really been safe (the umps blew some calls) I think he should stop sending him.
  18. I am really digging the long AB's against a tough pitcher
  19. I hope Theriot keeps getting on base like this, at least until Soriano comes back and plays well.
  20. Pitching against a Dusty Baker-led team has a tendency to do that. Too bad we don't have any soft-tossing lefties. They'd have thrown 27 consecutive scoreless innings in this series! Isn't Lilly kind of a soft tossing lefty?
