  1. I think the 100 years thing is on Lou's mind. He seems to be over managing a lot this year. Oh well, as long as we win and it doesn't cost us in terms of stamina at the end of the season.
  2. Carlos Marmol is highly skilled in the baseball playing profession.
  3. Was the guy double fisting a beer w/ a mai tai? If so it was probably Duhon. No wonder he sucks.
  4. I am just messing with him, I would say most on this board are pretty good about seeing the huge flaws on our own team. It ain't about seeing the flaws. It's about temping the fates!!! Those terrible little harpies lurking around in the shadows that come to life at the first sound of Cubs fans taunting any other team. I don't believe in that crap. I had a whole freaking year of Kansas fans teasing and prodding at me about how bad my team is and how great they are and they win a national title. I don't buy into that crap at all anymore. You know, Cubs fans have tried not to tempt fate for years and look how that turned out. Maybe the key is to tempt fate.
  5. I agree. I don't like how not only were they used quickly but you used two of them. I can see using Marshall (He is the only lefty in the pen right), but I don't like using Lieber. I would have at least preferred a different right hander. Although now that I think about it our right handed middle relief pitchers out side of Lieber have been pretty inconsistent. Ahh, forget it I'll stop over thinking it and enjoy the game.
  6. Good for you. We have won a lot of games this year. I think he was just trying to explain Lou's move. On the other hand if you're just giving him crap, carry on.
  7. Yeah, but were talking Bay (who is good), Nady and LaRoche. These aren't the greatest hitters in the world. (Know that I said that they will spur a comeback for the Pirates.
  8. Wait, when did LaRussa start managing the Cubs?
  9. Lou is babying Rich. We have 12 guys in the pen, and Lieber and Marshall haven't done much recently, and Rich is a guy whose success is often related to his confidence. I'm not applauding the move but I certainly understand it. I understand it too, I just don't like it.
  10. What!? Hill has been pitching pretty well this game and Lieber struggled yesterday. I don't like this move.
  11. He'll be fine. He's still hitting for power, and with a couple of 3-5 games, he'll be back into the .270's range. He seems to be getting on base ok.
  12. You need to watch the Giants play. touche
  13. I'm glad we are playing the Pirates. Every other team would have scored the pitcher that inning.
  14. Yes, but mute the TV or just spend your time pretending Hawk is an old man who had a stroke and don't take him seriously. He is easier to ignore that way.
  15. I feel bad about myself. I starting to have faith that Theriot is gonna get on when ever he hits.
  16. You'd still have less than one out with the bases loaded. Although that would be for Patterson and Theriot so maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea
  17. I just got out of class. It seems like Hill is doing better today.
  18. Like I have said before, this is the correct opinion! I would most love the leagues to have the same rules now that they have been merged for a long time. I do think that the DH does make the game artificial and feel more like amateur baseball but I wouldn't lose sleep in the NL instituted it.
  19. It is possible that Dusty is learning to try different ways to develop talent. Although seeing as he didn't learn between SF and the Cubs it isn't likely, plus he hasn't shown much learning in terms of accepting OBP and things like that(Starting and debunking your own arguments in the same post rules.) He did play Patterson a lot and like someone mentioned Hee Seop Choi but the fact is they really didn't improve under him.
  20. Let's see if we can it up to 18 innings today. I was disappointed in the short games last week
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280417125 This is one Cubs game I probably wouldn't finish watching. It ended at 3:13 am central time. (I hope the link works, I don't really know what I am doing.)
