  1. Because the pitch was nowhere close to being a strike? If it's a hit and run and the pitch is relatively close, you gotta swing. At least attempt to foul it off. This is why people don't like the full count hit and run. It forces your hitter to swing at borderline pitch's a hit and run, period, does that. True but a regular hit and run is even worse because you have to swing at anything.
  2. Kearns has a great arm. I bet the third base coach took that into consideration. I know but it was deep, a pretty obvious hit and he was going away. I guess you don't want to make the first out at third though.
  3. Ramirez should probably be on third right now.

  5. I'd say he earned some teammates respect with that one
  6. He ran about half a football field and then dove at about a 45 degree angle backwards on the track, almost full extension. I'm not sure how he didn't jam his neck into the fence and break it he was so close to the fence.
  7. The dropped third strike is the dumbest rule in sports. No, in all of sports, that would be the inability to review force-out plays in football. Hmmm...good point

  9. We're taking a good approach now we need to capitalize.
  10. This camera angle on line drives reminds me of some old video game baseball.
  11. Hence why I hope Hendry realizes this and gets a top of the rotation starter in July Because those grow on trees? No but there will be at least 1-2 available, possibly more, and if the Cubs are in first place and look like they are missing one #1 or #2 starter away from potentially being a World Series team, I'd hope Hendry would make that move. Rick Sutcliffe?
  12. Never too early. I agree, the bigger the lead we get now the less we have to worry in Sept. Please Welcome: Randy Hundley, Ernie Banks, Glenn Beckert, Ron Santo, Don Kessinger, Billy Williams, Don Young, Jim Hickman, and Mr. Fergie Jenkins!!! SHHHHHHHHHHHH...don't say that

  14. Werth ties the game for the Phils vs Milwaukee if anyone is doing some April scoreboard watching like I am.
  15. Soto batting two spots behind Fukudome doesn't bother me that much because both him and DeRosa have gotten on base and that will give Soto chances to knock them in. Fontenot playing over Cedeno is stupid though.
  16. Maybe, he is taking advantage of the fact that in this 2 and 2 set we are 3-0 to play Fontenot, to give him one last chance at starting or being on the big league club. If he struggles he'll be sent back. Then again, probably no.
  17. Might want to be on the lookout for these dudes: Coming soon That sounds about right
  18. Do we know when he is coming back yet? He better be ready to hit.
  19. One more thing (I have to make up for having a job and missing games now) the Cubs could be tied for the best record in the Majors in about an hour.
  20. Na, I hope we win the damn division by so much no one worries about tuning in until September. I would love to enjoy a 15 plus lead in the division at least once in my life. (Followed by WS championship of course.)
  21. I agree. Just a question, how close was the game winning run. I'm just curious if Fontenot scored where Soto wouldn't have. There was no play on Fontenot. Hawpe went away from the play to get it, but I'm still not sure Soto scores. There's definitely a play on him at the plate. Yeah, I didn't disagree with PR for soto. I just wish we wouldn't have done it for lee. Save Pie and PR him for Soto. Regardless of the fact that Lou had no idea Ramirez would homer, lee isn't that slow. That's exactly my thoughts. In fact pinch running for Lee also made it so pinch running for Soto could have been a bad move because we would have had no hitters.
