  1. Sometimes they don't allow runs in the first inning either.
  2. Being the "first defending champion" to do whatever kind of sucks but it also means we're defending champions and that's still cool.
  3. We'll catch the Brewers just fine if we ever play good baseball again. I'm not worried about that. My fear is that we just won't get it going this year.
  4. I can't excited for a game in this pillow fight division.
  5. Gasping at straws but plenty of instances of teams playing way over their heads for half the season and tanking. The Brewers did it in 2014 (52-31 at one point and finished 82-80) the White Sox did it recently too. 100 percent correct. The Brewers were actually up by eight game on everybody in the Central like midway through July and even perhaps later that year. Of course, that doesn't make me feel any better about this year and what I have been seeing. I'm not worried about the Brewers. We suck though.
  6. I just got MLB.tv so I get to watch the Cubs after quite some time of being unable to. When they win a bunch of games and are fixed I'm taking all the credit.
  7. So who had Jon Jay becoming the fan favorite on the defending champion Cubs?
  8. The combo of the Brewers coming back from a 4-0 deficit in the first inning and the Cubs giving away runs has me rather annoyed at the moment
  9. I get the team being different offensively and the pitching struggling too because it's baseball but I don't understand how the defense has been so different considering it's mostly the same team and Schwarber isn't even playing.
  10. If he gets a big hit against us in the NLCS.....
  11. I don't know, they're going to have to play so much better to show me they are capable of playing at a pace that gets them to 90+. If the pitching continues as it has the past week or so maybe I'll get there.
  12. yeah, but that's good. it means the world series didn't make cubs baseball. the season after the blackhawks won their first cup, i found it really hard to be invested. i haven't really felt that way about the cubs at all. i've been in wake me up when the playoffs come mode all year that doesn't mean 100% not invested in the reg season but it has made it really hard for any of this to bother me all that much I can't get in wake me up when the playoffs come mode when they've been in second places for most of the season but it is hard for me to get too angry about the season since I live out of market now and haven't been able to watch in a damn month.
  13. Why watch when we're gonna finish a bunch of games ahead of the Brewers anyways?
  14. When we win 90 games and repeat as champions which thread would be the best one to start reading?
  15. We're slowly becoming a good again I think. The pitching has gotten batter the last week and we're winning some damn games. Hope we can take the series and then look decent against the Nats.
  16. He doesn't seem to have any great actual basketball skill. He's basically putting up those numbers by being extremely athletic, with the ability to jump a mile in the air. While that is a great ability to have, it's typically not something that is a sustained way of putting up numbers. And he's not good enough in the halfcourt game to be an efficient enough scorer. Like you said, he is 22, and maybe he can develop his halfcourt game like young Vince Carter did (though Carter was better already by this point). But most likely, he's a guy that will never be more than a 3rd option in the halfcourt and a stud in transition. And this reeks of the days the Bulls were signing/trading for Eddie Robinson and Larry Hughes to be the best player on the team. He's been a decently efficient scorer though. I think he's a pretty underrated player and I'd be more excited about getting him if it weren't for the injury and the contract situation.
  17. I'm underwhelmed by the trade but I don't really understand the Zach Lavine hate aside from the injury. A 22 year old who averaged 18 points a game while being a good three point shooter is pretty good.
  18. When in God's name will watching the Bulls be interesting again?
  19. Hopefully tonight is the last night we're in 2nd or lower the rest of the season.
  20. Because the game 7 was insane intensity wise and because it meant ending the drought, the down 3-1 part isn't remembered to me like a 3-1 comeback typically would be. Plus, I was so confident in that team that I kind of expected it (thought my posts probably don't show this completely.
  21. Go on a damn win streak you piles of turds
