Yeah, I'm not sure how acquiring one season of Kawhi makes them markedly better when they trade away one of their best pieces to get him. I get that the East is wide open now with LeBron gone, but... Kawhi is the best player in the East right now probably (certainly top 3, him Giannis and healthy Kyrie?). They got a lot better, Derozan is a nice player and all but he’s closer to like the 30th best NBA player than Kawhi level. Plus they still could always trade Kawhi by the deadline if things aren’t working out. I like the idea of DeRozen playing under Pop with that opportunity for him to get better. He may not as he’s not that young but I like that deal when it’s for a guy who hates your team.
