1) It was a pop fly 2) There were runners on first and 2nd with one out. Those parts are indisputable, right? Well, all that's left is whether an infielder could reach it with ordinary effort. Considering the umpire made the call when there was an infielder standing under it waiting to catch it, I'd find that to be a pretty reasonable judgment. He waited until the ball was nearly on the ground though. It has to be called immediately and it wasn't. I'm guessing it was because he was unsure as to if the ball was going to be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort. Considering, the player was struggling to see the ball and at no point did it seem like he was going to make that play easily, I don't see why it should have been called.
