  1. This game is very un-big 10 like.
  2. Why doesn't the rule book just say "If the umpire thinks a double play can be turned on a drop, he'll call it." Otherwise it's just a free out for no reason.
  3. 1) It was a pop fly 2) There were runners on first and 2nd with one out. Those parts are indisputable, right? Well, all that's left is whether an infielder could reach it with ordinary effort. Considering the umpire made the call when there was an infielder standing under it waiting to catch it, I'd find that to be a pretty reasonable judgment. He waited until the ball was nearly on the ground though. It has to be called immediately and it wasn't. I'm guessing it was because he was unsure as to if the ball was going to be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort. Considering, the player was struggling to see the ball and at no point did it seem like he was going to make that play easily, I don't see why it should have been called.
  4. Chipper seems to be the most underrated, one of the best all time at his position. I've seen a lot of "Was he really that good?" or "I didn't realize how good he was." comments related to him.
  5. The Red Sox and National's ones are awesome because everyone looks uncomfortable as hell.
  6. I'm ok with the Orioles winning.
  7. Baseball color commentators during playoff games are really, really bad. The intensity is ratcheted up and they feel the need to keep saying stupid things at a higher volume for some reason. Of course, I'm complaining at a higher volume than usual so there's that too.
  8. 8th inning of an elimination game, bases loaded in a 3 run game with 1 out and that drama was taken away because of a judgement call? That's frustrating as a baseball fan. Also, the infield fly is designed to protect the hitting team from a double play, how was a double play remotely possible there? Why does the ump wait until Holliday calls him off? Why is if the outfield ump who isn't even there in the regular season, placed out there to keep bad calls in the playoffs from happening, who made that call? Frustrating.
  9. I'm tired of the Cardinals. My favorite sport is the most unkind one to me.
  10. Reading this thread just makes the 2012 tank-job more annoying.
  11. There is no chance for them to have home field advantage. Actually, the 2-2-1 format gives an opportunity for the lower team to "steal" home field. That's impossible under this format.
  12. Maybe he meant that he wants to win a World Series with the Cubs.
  13. I'm really excited for the wild card round. The one game series (if you want to call it that) is a great idea.
  14. How is Soriano a "mental midget" exactly? Flawed player who got overpaid? Sure (though he has been a good player with Cubs for most seasons) but I don't get the claim that he's mentally weak.
  15. It's kind of depressing to watch an athlete talk like that.
  16. I like that the one letter typo pretty much made that post unreadable.
  17. I guess the A's were 13 back at one point. That's crazy. A Yankees vs Rangers Wild Card game would be unexpected but it could happen.
  18. Oakland wins, too bad their game tomorrow is a day game.
  19. I didn't realize that Oakland was a game behind the Rangers. They win tonight (up 3-1 in the 7th) they play a game for the division tomorrow. Interesting.
  20. Welp, tomorrow is my least favorite day in sports.

It could matter for a player wanting to come here. It wouldn't really matter for a player deciding to stay. White Sox fans tend to believe those myths too for some reason.
  22. It still sucks that there are only 2 games left.
  23. Nats win the NL East and it looks like the Tigers are going to clinch too though they aren't done with their game.
  24. Seems like it's louder when the Bears do something positive than when Dallas does.
