  1. Fat or not, both players would make the Cubs a better team...
  2. Hmmm, would that be a home run to Tony "Zero Home Runs in 200 ABs" Gwynn Jr? That doesn't bode well...
  3. It's obvious where he went. He went back to bed; all day, every day - nailing his wife! Well, it would be rude not to....
  4. If it can be argued that the Brewers have three no.5 pitchers at the back of their rotation, then I think it's also fair to suggest that maybe the Cubs, with Marquis and Dempster, have a couple of no.6 starters looking for rotation spots. I'm just sayin'...
  5. You guys are cruel. Let the girl do her job. As a Cubs fan it might be the closest she gets to a WS Trophy for a while... :P
  6. Uh yeah, Cleveland wasn't the underdog guy. Yup, so far all four winning teams had a better season record than the teams they beat. Now if you by "underdog" you mean "team that spent the least money", then only the Red Sox wasn't an underdog.
  7. I believe Torres Toast and Rogers supported the Captain and Tennile on their 1977 Musk Rat Across America Tour...
  8. Hmmm...so much to comment on. First off, the Cubs added Soriano, arguably the biggest name FA last season as well as Floyd, DeRo and Lilly and look what happened. Then you state that the core with "long contracts" will be added to by "big names". Assuming they still want to develop youngsters, where are they gonna fit all those guys? They still get 25 players, right? But I'm not quite sure where the throwing stones at Wisconsin teams comes from. A Wisconsin baseball club has won the WS more recently than the Cubs and a Wisconsin football club has won the Superbowl more recently than da Bears. And unless "streaky" means something different than blowing hot and cold all season, then that describes the 2007 Northsiders too, methinks....
  9. Playing devil's advocate for a second, maybe he based his opinion on ARam on the posts dogging on him here over the last week...
  10. All the people in the stands holding up signs saying "It's Gonna Happen" maybe need to define exactly what "It" is. If "It" = "heartbreak", then, yes......."It's Gonna Happen"...
  11. He is the closer. When he gets out of an inning that means game over, not inning number 3 coming up...
  12. Livan Hernandez and Micah Owings. We could tie this thing up. I am not giving up yet. This team is very tough at home. That is why last night was crucial. One win at home. Then big Z in Game 4. You'd take your chances in Game 5 right? I mean, the worm has to turn right? EVERY break has gone AZ way so far. Silly cardinal fan. we don't get breaks. 98 years and all. Don't give up. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Germans? animal house... rent it Errrr... I know that. "Germans?" was the next line in the movie. Where's Capt. Obvious when you need him? i literally meant rent it.. That would be silly, when I can just wander over to the cabinet and grab it. It's in between "American Beauty" and "The Aristocrats"!

  14. I'll give you that. I'm suprised it's not an aviator yet! Like the sunglasses?

  16. With the 3 1/2 game lead going into Monday and the respective matchups for the week there should be absolutely no reason why the Cubs don't make the postseason. None. I guess we get to see if Lou really is the master motivator, or just a crazy old man that kicks dirt...
  17. Or leaving your ace (at the moment) pitcher to hang when he's getting shelled for 9 runs? It just doesn't make any sense. You don't think the Brewers would rather get into the bullpen early? Remind me not to have you manage a ballclub anytime soon...
  18. And if the Cubs, with twice the payroll of the Pirates and Marlins combined, can't win the division from here on in then questions need to be asked...
  19. This thread is freakin' hilarious! The double standards applied are quite laughable. Z pumps his fists and shows up hitters pretty much every inning and he's a gamer, a battler with fiery latin temperament - what a character! Braun for the only time this season, doesn't just put his head down and run the bases, and he deserves to get drilled in the head? I know we all try to be objective about these things, but, c'mon...
  20. He hit a HR and posed like was Manny Ramirez or something. He strutted halfway to first base like he was on a catwalk or something. I have to admit it was actually kind of funny in a sad sort of way. He'll need another 2 or 3 seasons like this one before he can begin to get away with that crap. And he'll have to study some videotape of Sosa, ARam and Soriano to really perfect it...
  21. Welcome :!: As Elvis would say - thangyewverrymuch!
  22. It's really easy for the analysts to go with the big-name expensive players, but any Cubs fan, if he's being honest with himself, would want to have the Brewers roster for the next few years.
