  1. Assuming the Angels go with a younger outfield and buyout his contract, how about signing Vladimir Guerrero to play right field? I would start at 4 years and $56 million.
  2. He's supposed to see a dentist this morning. Hope it went well.
  3. It didn't happen- everyone can take a deep breath. Especially you, PriorPower. Looks like nobody wanted to take on his $14 million salary for 2009. That's a surprise.
  4. According to cubsrumorsandnews, we have mild interest. http://cubsrumorsandnews.blogspot.com/
  5. Well I was officially stiffed. My source now won't even get back to me. Hence, he gave me false info. End of story. He usually doesn't do this, but oh well. You guys can turn this into whatever you want. But frankly, we don't need another outfielder. Even if Fukudome is benched more, we have PLENTY of options, especially with the deadline passing. Sorry again, I haven't logged in since I posted this in the morning.
  6. Reports coming out of San Fransisco are that the Cubs are on the verge of acquiring OF Randy Winn from the Giants for OF/1B Daryle Ward and a minor league player to be named later. Winn would be a significant upgrade over Ward: Winn: .294 AVG, 5 HR, 46 RBI Ward: .221 AVG, 2 HR, 9 RBI Obviously it's not really fair to compare these numbers, but I did anyways. My feeling is that this won't happen, even though I could see Hendry making a move like this with Fukudome struggling.
  7. Any potential guys we can acquire through waivers, or are we done now? I wouldn't mind getting Brian Giles. Also, if you hear of anybody put on waivers or anybody that does get traded, it can go here.
  8. McLouth is the building block of that team, and he is also my favorite Pittsburgh Pirate!
  9. I think a combo of Pie/Veal or Wuertz/Howry for Milton Bradley and Francisco would be more then enough.
  10. The Cubs are averaging like 3 runs a game this month, and I don't see it changing just yet. Between now and the 31st, do you see GM Jim Hendry try and get someone else to add to the offense? But then again, the trade market is a little thin this summer, so who would it be? Your thoughts here.
  11. Yeah your right, if anyone would stay it would be Jim Hendry.
  12. I'm surprised more people don't talk about this on the board. Oh well, can't get everything you want. I really hope Mark Cuban gets his bid awarded and becomes the new owner of the Cubs. He is the ideal guy for the job at a time like this. One thing is for sure, if Cuban does buy the team (say for $700 to $900 million), you know everyone is gonna be wiped out from a front office perspective. Good bye Jim Hendry, good bye Crane Kenney, good bye Mark McGuire (you suck btw)! Why do you think McDonough left right away as soon as he got his offer from the B'Hawks? Because of a situation like this. Please Mark Cuban! 8-[
  13. Drop Fukudome down to the eight hole where he belongs. How can be getting $12 million a year and only batting .115 since June 1? That's a really long time to be "in a slump" (aka he is already wearing down). And hear is the thing I hate- everyone defends him like he's a great Chicago sports player/icon. A great Chicago sports icon is someone like Ernie Banks or even Ron Santo. You think majority of fans and media (announcers especially) defended those two guys when they were in a little bit of a funk when they were playing? Let me check............... NOPE! [-X
  14. This is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks to you both.
  15. Should have never want to Seattle. He was my favorite Brewer when he was with Milwaukee. I saw him hit the scoreboard at Miller Park like four or five years ago.
  16. Anyone know where I can find a Harden player t-shirt? I've always liked these and I have about eight of them already (other Cub players). When will it be available on cubs.com, what stores I can find it in, cubs clubhouse, etc. Thanks
  17. I have never liked Erik Bedard, I sure hope we don't acquire him. But I'm sure we won't acquire him or the Cubs are even interested considering that a lot of people on this board are usually wrong or think this is fantasy baseball. Oh yeah, Tim Hudson before Rich Harden. Good prediction, very good prediction. Also, I would love to get Milton Bradley, but my gut tells me the Rangers won't think about actually giving him up until the eleventh hour. Maybe one more left handed reliever? A Ron Mahay Chicago return anyone?
  18. Please get Rich Harden, there is just something about Hudson that makes me say, NO WAY! BTW, what is the status of Harden's contract? Signed beyond this year or is that the reason why the A's are willing to say goodbye to their ace?
  19. I don't think it matters that the A's got a boatload for Haren in the winter. We are in season now, and I truly believe Hendry and Beane can get this done in the next two weeks or less. However, I can see the A's prying away someone like Gallagher for Harden's services.
  20. If this deal does go down either today or tomorrow, Hendry needs to step it up in the next week and make a move right away, showing that no matter what the Brewers do, the Cubs will always be ahead- at least this year anyways.
  21. Don't know how much this is worth but Steve Phillips just stated on ESPN that the Cubs are the front runners for A.J. Burnett, assuming either the Brewers or Dodgers acquire Sabathia. He said a "nice package" around SS Ronny Cedeno and others would be good enough to make a deal with Toronto because Burnett has an opt-out clause in his contract after this season. At this point, I say we just go for Burnett, coming back to the NL is only going to do good things for him. Plus, you would have to give up a whole lot more to get C.C.
  22. Why not go for A.J. Burnett? It will take considerably less players (like two, maybe three) to get him and he's under contract past this season (I think). Plus, don't you think from Burnett's perspective that he might do a little if not a whole lot better in the National League. I like Ronny Cedeno, but we need another starting pitcher. Case closed. Make this deal now: Cubs: RHP Burnett Blue Jays: SS Ronny Cedeno LHP Rich Hill PTBNL
