  1. You mean the fact that about 14 balls that had been hit 20X harder than Johnsons had ended up in D Back gloves all season?
  2. Something about Cubs hitters crossing home plate or something like that. Nothing to concern yourself with.
  3. This article seems to like the Cubs chances http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-contenders072108&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  4. Even if you look at the infamous picture of Bartman catching the ball, theres like 10 other set of hands reaching out. He just happened to be the unlucky bastard who fate frowned upon. It could have just as easily been some other name synonomous with the collapse of '03.
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Cubs-fan-Steve-Bartman-offered-25K-for-just-one?urn=mlb,95542
  6. Why couldnt I have been born a White Sox fan. Are these guys ever really out of it? A few minutes ago, they were going into the bottom of the 8th down 8-4, then I check the score and there up 10-8. They really seem to be back to 2005 form.
  7. Just for the record, 4 other teams who are currently in 1st place for their division or the wild card are just as bad on the road as we are Rays 19-25 Red Sox 23-32 White Sox 22-27 D-Backs 20-29 Cubs 21-30
  8. If it gets us turned around, fine... but at the same time, to think one man can mean so much to a team/season. Good thing it was just 6 weeks and not a season-ending injury! Its not that hes the reason for the troubles. He had nothing to do with Ramirez, Lee, and Soto taking a vacation at once. Its just that this is our time of need, and it will be nice to have him back.
  9. The only way it would make sense to pick up anything before the roster expansion would be for someone who can play short stop with a better bat than Cedeno. Other than that, we may as well stand pat.
  10. If we do fal out of first, we could be in trouble, as we have the toughest schedule between the 3 NL Cent contenders we have: 2 series vs. the Marlins, 3 vs. the Brewers, 3 vs. the Cards, and 1 series each of Mets and Phillies. Brewers have: 3 vs. Us, 1 each with Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Cards(2 more this series+another 2 game set) Cards have: 3 more vs. us, and 1 each of D-Backs, Phils, Mets, Marlins, Dodgers, Brewers(2 more this series, plus another 2 game set)
  11. Not really. The topic is about a new poster coming on with an in-your-face "I told you so" message to people who criticized Theriot in the past. It would be one thing if Theriot had been critisized recently, however, its been a few months since the Free Ronny campaign ended, and Theriot has long since been accepted. Maybe at the end of August, we'll be treated to a similar thread regarding Ryan Dempster.
  12. I wonder what penalty Selig would hand to any team who signs Bonds, and would it be worth it.
  13. I think Hart will be gone before Eyre comes back, and Wuertz will come back up, and Hart will be given the Cliff Bartosh/Billy Petrick/Ryan O'Mally treatment and never be seen or heard from again. Either that or end up a 27 game winner for the Cardinals.
  14. I just saved money on my car insurance by switiching to Geico.
  15. Ditto. Im fairly confident that we'll make the playoffs one way or another, but it will be a rocky road, and we wont coast as we once thought we would. However, once we get there, I feel that we can dominate. Zambrano and Harden can hang with any 1-2 in the league, and not too many NL teams have a 3-4 that can answer to Dempster and Lilly. We just have to hope that we can get homfield advantage for the 2 NL series'.
  16. I have it on good authority that you've started to suck a little. valid. then in the spirit of the title of this thread: yes, i remember when i didn't suck. I've noticed that I'm sucking too much lately too. I need to get it in gear, and quickly. Every time I watch one of these crapfests that they call Cubs games to the bitter end, I feel I suck just a little bit more.
  17. Got to hold off on Losers until they fall out of 1st, which shouldnt be too long.
  18. The problem could solve its self if Soriano wouldnt be such a about it and bat in the heart of the lineup. how would that make ramirez, lee and soto hit better? It would make the lineup better in general. Theriot Fontenot vs. RHP/Johnson vs. LHP Lee Soriano Ramirez Fukudome Soto Edmonds vs. RHP/DeRosa vs. LHP Pitcher That lineup would produce ridiculous amounts of runs, especually when Lee, Ramirez, and Soto decide to play again
  19. The problem could solve its self if Soriano wouldnt be such a about it and bat in the heart of the lineup.
  20. Unfortunately, we havnt been able to make the most out of it and push The Cards down the ladder. Its not going to matter much if the Brewers sweep and we cant get a win in that time frame. It just means we'll be 2 games up in the Wild Card standings by this time Friday.
  21. It seems as though a similar thread arises after every loss. May as well just sticky one to the top so everyone can vent together. Anyway, all of us know that this team will come out of whatevr it is they are in. Better now than August and September. Right now, there is little doubt in mymind that The Brewers and/or Cardinals will catch us in the standing sooner than later, The Cobs just have to make sure that they dont run too far. And as Ive said numerous times in the past, while we are in an awful funk, both The Cards and Brewers are not slump proof and will hit their own little rough patches. But still, knock yourselves out and press away http://tinypic.com/iegy38.jpg
  22. I hate to say it but i kind of agree. I think this team doesn't have it. And yes mark me for saying if we do "reach" the postseason because i don't see this team doing anything. I'll happily eat crow, but the road woes have been there all along and are only getting worse. This feels like last year, but in reverse. Brewers are coming on strong and the next two days they have CC and Sheets. They are going to sweep the Cards... The difference is, last year the Brewers had horrible pitching, and pretty much everyone expected them to fall off. The Cubs, on the other hand, have the best rotation in the NL. you have 2 legit number 1s, one 1.5, a number 2, and Marquis, whose a number 5, but argueably one of the better number 5s in the league, unless of course he has his mid season drop off.. We all know that the offense will come out of this funk, but the questin remains, how far will they let the Brewers and/or Cardinals run before they do?
