They really serve the same purpose. So Hoffs had one big game. Wards come up with some big hits. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I really dont see it as a make or break. lol...OK, say they both serve the same purpose, do we want: Player A, 73 AB's: .342/.400/.534, 139 OPS+ Player B, 102 AB's: .216/.319/.402, 85 OPS+ That is hardly a tough question. Hoff has had more than just "one big game". He's obviously the better player at this point. Hoff also didn't sit his ass on the bench throughout an entire year, but played nearly every day in AAA where he also mashed the hell out of the ball, hitting .362/.393/.752 with 25 HR and 34 doubles in just 71 games. . And its not easy for a player, especially a rookie to go from playing everyday to being a bat off the bench. I wont argue that if we were talking a starting position that Hoff would be the much better choice, but again, hes used to playing everyday, and when a player gos from playing in the field everyday to sitting on the bench waiting to be called upon, its hard to fiend his stroke. All and all, Hoff would be the better choice, but in the end, as I said before, I dont see it being a make or break choice.
