  1. Aurilia yes, Atkins, no. Granted hes been on the steady decline since his breakout 2006, but hes was very good in '07 and solid in '08. I cant see him continuing to be this bad this year. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they spent the offseason trying to dump him and give his job to someone else. Wed probably end up splitting the remainder of his 7 million dollar salary, but surely we could afford that rather than giving up more valuable prospects for a rent a player.
  2. They say he'll be in the 2011 draft, so hopefully we can win the series this year and in 2010 make the 2006 team look like good.
  3. According to ESPN 1000, Bradley will sit the next 3 games but will not require a DL stint. I dont know if that means he'll be eligible to pinch hit or not.
  4. And we can buy very, very low on him. Worst case scenerio is he gives us what Bobby Scales, Andres Blanco, Ryan Freel, and Aaron Miles have given us.
  5. Can someone explain the opt out clause in Bradleys contract, how many games he has to play. I wa sdiscussing with smeone that I think The Cubs have an opt out clause if he plays fewer than X number of games or something.
  6. Id platoon Reed and Hoff and bring up Jason DuBois. Hes really not going to help too much but beteen him, Deeds, Taguchi, and Fuld, hes probably the best option as a bat off the bench. Brad Snyer would have gotten the call if he werent DLd.
  7. Seriously, we need to make them an offer. Hes been awful thus far, but I cant see him being much worse than what weve paraded out there.
  8. If theyre going to deny McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, and Clemens HOF access, they damn sure better do the same with Manny. Remember, Sammy never tested positive for anything accept for cork.
  9. Is he going to be in the 2010 draft? If so, theres still time for the Cubs to make it to dead last, although the Nats will prove a worthy foe.
  10. I know Ive heard various radio chatter of moving Soriano to 2B to get more playing time for Hoffpauir or Fox, but has there been any talk or rumors of the Cubs going after Holliday outside of this board because Ive heard nothing.
  11. McClouth wont be ready to join the Braves by tonight will he?
  12. As bizaar as is sounds, last night I had a dream that the Cubs called up Doug Deeds. However, he wasnt a crappy old pushing 30 career minor leaguer, he was a top prospect and it was the big news story of the day.
  13. If we really want someone right now, the most aquireble would probably be Garrett Atkins. Not only has he been brutal for the Rockies this season, but they want to give Ian Stewart the job. As bad as hes been and as bad as they want to move him and his .188/.264/.273 line, Id offer up something like Kevin Hart and 1 or 2 performance based PTBNL. If Jason Marquis can look like an ace there, maybe Hart or Heilman can too. With the Rockies position player log jam and the fact that theyre an NL tea, theyd have little use for Jake Fox so we could focus on then trying to move him for a reliever. Atkins may not be the ideal choice, but a change of scenery could do him well.
  14. When I've seen the rumors, that's what would happen. Holliday in left and Soriano to 2B. I know Sori would be awful at 2B, but man would it help our offense. I posted in another discussion that putting Fox at 3B might not be any worse than Soriano at 2B defensively. While I agree that Fox isn't a ML 3B, Soriano has proven that he's not a ML 2B. In any case, using Fox wouldn't cost us the prospects that trading for Holliday would. At least Soriano has played 2B at a major league level. From everything Ive heard, Fox at 3rd would be just as bad as William Perry there.
  15. I would very much like it if by the bottom of the 9th the Cubs have more runs than the Braves and it stays that way until the 3rd out.
  16. Id be for taking out a flyer on Betemit. He has a respectable .756 career OPS and hed be an upgrade over the crap carousel weve seen since we lost Ramirez. Granted he wouldnt be much of an upgrade, but better than nothing. kind of. He could hold us off until the ownership gives Hendry the go ahead to do something.
  17. He has had few at bats and was given quick runs against premiere SP. He had a .474 OPS since May 20th but that's over a very sporatic 28 ABs. I am not worried, he seem to be a solid .775/.825 hitter which people should be ecstatic that we could pull a player like that off the scrap heap of the Cubs farm system. Then again, an AB from Hoff is a AB taken away from Fox for the most part. Be it true or not, Ive always felt that if you take a guy whose used to being an every day starter at every level and they become a pinch hitter in the majors its not alwasy easy to adjust.
  18. He has had few at bats and was given quick runs against premiere SP. Fixed
  19. wow, I didnt expect that to happen. Well done, I guess.
  20. Should this post be taken seriously? Not the best, but hes 3rd behind Lee and Fuku at this time. And what are you basing that on? The fact that we have a lot of bad hitters on this team? Behind Lee and Fuku, theres a lot of guys clustered for 3rd, being Hoff, Font, and Reed, and none of them are spectacular. Im just talking about now. Overall, there are a lot of bette hitters than Hoff on the team, but they dont happen to be producing.
  21. Oh good, its Big Bad Bobby Scales to screw up in fron of his home town again.
  22. Should this post be taken seriously? Not the best, but hes 3rd behind Lee and Fuku at this time.
  23. Screw you Hoff. Now instead of going to bed depressed after a tough loss Ill go to bed angry after Gregg blows the game.
  24. We really do need offensive help, no question. Right now, Fuku and Lee are our anchors, which isnt horrible, but back when it was Soso and Alou, they were a lot better, and their supporting cast wasnt much worse than this. Aside from '03, they never went anywhere. We need help in some form.
