  1. Its really more Lou hurting the team than Aramis. Even if he is going to be given the chance to work his way out of this horrendous, season long slump, it needs to be from the 7 or 8 spot, not the 4 or 5.
  2. Other than these guys, the rest of the bullpen is Stevens, Russell, and whoever takes over Zs spot, and while I have nothing against any of them, as long as the guy in charge of the bullpen uses it poorly, it will continue to be a mess, and unfortunately, the guy in charge chooses to continue to put Grabow in big spots.
  3. Even if thats true, as soon as the Cubs were ready to compete again, and if they do make their way to the world series, I guarantee all the focus and money would shift right back to them, and Im not just talking Chicago.
  4. Marshall is where he belongs, at least as far as where he helps the team the most. As far as Im concerned, Marshall to Marmol is one of the best 8-9 inning combos in the league. Its just too bad the rest of the pen is such a mess, or at least we have a manager who has no idea what to do with it Hint: Grabow should never be on the mound unless we have a double digit lead or defecit. One things for sure though, Marshall wants to be a starter, and his free agency cant be too far away, and there are teams that will offer him decent money to do so.
  5. If guys are making contact but the hits aren't dropping in I don't really worry. That's the case for Vitters right now. I've been pimping Diamond since we picked him up. Glad to see I'm not alone there. Diamond's final line: 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 8 K, 5-4 GO-FO Not too shabby. His ERA currently stands at 2.01. Im a big Diamond fan as well, but theres really nowhere to put him. Too bad we can have a 9 man rotation of Z/Lilly/Demp/Wells/Silva/Gorz/Diamond/Cashner/Jackson.
  6. J Jax goes 3 IP with 3 H 1 BB 2 K, and with that, his ERA goes down to a sparkling 1.99. He has yet to give up a run since converting to the bullpen, but who cares when we got Bullet Bob Howry for cheap.
  7. Granted Marshall doesnt have Marmols filth, and who does, but as far as consistancy goes, he may very well be our best reliever. Too bad when his free agency comes, which cant be too far off surely he'll go to a team who offers him a starting gig.
  8. Great work by Marshall, as always. Keep it up until Lou and the rest of the pen cause your arm to fall off.
  9. Come on Sean, clean up your overpaid, talentless colleagues mess.
  10. Lou and Grabow both need to go far, far away and never come back.
  11. So Lou had to leave that pile of crap in another inning, and now we have a guy who hasnt pitched in a week, and wasnt very good then in vs. the heart of a good lineup with 2 on. Brilliant Lou. Please resign.
  12. We dodged a Grablow there, I just hope he doesnt come out for the 7th. Of course that could also be Bullet Bobs return. The possibilities are endless, and very frightening.
  13. At least we got 1 run, and possibly a break with essentially 3 pitchers coming to the plate.
  14. Ill be honest, I dont know anything about his defensive skills, but offensively, hed probably do what your average backup C does. Next year If rather just give him the job rather than pay Koyie Hill or someone similar $1 mil or more. the book on him defensively is that he has good skills but makes too many mistakes. he had a .275 OBP last year in AA. he's off to a better start this year offensively, but i don't know that he's a better option next year than robinson chirinos (though i don't know if chirinos has progressed enough defensively). As good as Chirinos offensive numbers have been the past few years, I have to think that defense is whats keepin him back.
  15. Ill be honest, I dont know anything about his defensive skills, but offensively, hed probably do what your average backup C does. Next year If rather just give him the job rather than pay Koyie Hill or someone similar $1 mil or more.
  16. While the thumbs probably a factor, at least as of late, its hard to discuss whats wrong with Aramis with out at least entertaining the possibility that the shoulder could be bothering him. Either way, a trip to the 15 day DL could be just what the doctor ordered. Between Fontenot, Baker, and Tracy, I cant see them producing any less than Aramis has thus far.
  17. Hopefully we can get Lee and Aramis back to the flash sideways where they're good baseball players.
  18. Due to us having a pretty good farm syetem, Aaron Shafer keeps getting lost in the shuffle. This guy seems to own the High A circuit, and I think its time to send him to Tennessee, or even all the way to Iowa.
  19. When you say be "good" at teh big league level, do you mean be star players, be productive players, IE Ryan Theriot, or stick round the league for a while due to defensive skill or their teams not botheing to replace them with a free agent who may or may not be a slught upgrade IE Nick Punto. Either way, I think Jay Jackson belongs in the likely catagory, the question is as a starter or reliever. Also, I think that Tony Campana and Matt Spencer belong in the got a chance catagory, and Darwin Barney and Wellington Castillo both appear major league ready, although they''ll probably end up as back up players. Also, Thomas Diamond is in the possible catagory, although he may not end up with us. Oliver Martinez also seems worth tracking.
  20. I am starting to worry about Soto. hes been really bad lately, and Theriots cooling down as well. If Lee and Ramirez were to take it upon themselves to heat up, that would more than make up for it, but theres really no sign of that happening anytime soon. I guess we'll just have to hope that Soriano, Castro, Byrd, and Fukudome can carry us for a while.Hopefully we'll be seeing more of Tyler Colvin with Soriano as DH in the interleague road games.
  21. Hes like the minor league version of Soriano. One moment, hes carrying the team for a few weeks, thenhe goes through a phase where he cant buy a base hit, although Soris been pretty consistant lately.
  22. And with that, Sean Marshall is #2 in wins for the Cubs. 4-1 baby!
  23. Just give him your best here and end it.
