In the same way that the Cubs were supposed to have no chance to beat Gallardo yesterday? If you consider any games vs the Astros to be definite losses, you may as well give up on this team here and now and find some other way to spend your spring and summer. Not sure who the Astros have pitching those 2 games, I'm assuming Wandy is one, but there isn't a single pitcher on that God forsaken team that scares me no matter who we send against them. Come on, look at that offense.

Is anyone else with me in getting comfortable with this duo? Baker seems to really handle lefties well. Barney seems like Theriot offensively, but can play a decent 2B. As long as he stays in the 8 spot, and the manager doesn't expect him to be more than he is, you can do worse at that spot in an NL lineup. Don't get me wrong, if someone like Kelly Johnson, Aaron Hill, or Jose Reyes became available, I'd be all about them, but at this point, Barnaker has not been a problem. They could make DeWitt expendable real soon. He's not good enough offensively to stick around as a pinch hitter, and not good enough defensively to be a utility infielder. I do think that is he was given the starting job as wed expected, hed have improved and been a serviceable 2B/8 hitter, but as long as the other 2 are perfoming, he likely won't get the chance. Of course, that could very well lead to Augie Ojeda being called upon as a backup SS, but that's life.

Not nearly as much as Brewer fans will hate Prince Fielder when he defects to the Cubs. It really is the reasonable option over 10 years of Pujols.

I thought the same thing, and it had me pretty scared. What a relief that we signed a crappy pitcher in his late 30s named Ramon instead of a crappy pitcher in his late 30s named Russ.

Be carefull with Weeks and don't pitch to Braun and Fielder, and Casey should be OK.

Maybe. But Fielder and Braun are both better than the best hitter on the Cubs And then they fall way the [expletive] off once you get past them and weeks. Last night, all they needed was Fielder and Narveson, so that brutal bottom half of the lineup was irrelevant. I am a bit surprised that they kept Nyjer Morgan out though.
