  1. If you're a college pitcher facing those guys, I'm guessing you'd be more than a tad worried. what if your like a Stephen Strasberg type. Are you still worried?
  2. Looking in the AL West, theres a team tied for 1st place whose 1B happens to be out for the year. Im wondering if theyd be interested in a veteran power hitting 1B with pretty good defensive skills.
  3. I thought hed been a lot better in the 2 hole. However, it seemed that as soon as they took him out of the 3 hole and put him in the 6th for a game or 2 and then back to the top of the lineup, he picked it up again.
  4. And Ive never understood the point, especially when its some God awful team like the Pirates or the Royals. When your paying a guy no matter what, theres no point in replacing him unless the replacement is someone who could be the manager past the remainder of the season.
  5. Yeah, that wont be a pretty series. Not at all. Eh, it may be all right, given the pitching scene in Boston. I had been looking forward to facing Lackey, though. And Im sure hed been looking forward to facing the Cubs
  6. Whats the point? Its not like someones going to come in and make this team good. I agree that Quade shouldnt be managing this team next year, but unless they have someone in mind that they really feel can be more than an interim, may as well let him sink with the rest of the ship. MY vote is still for Bobby V.
  7. Does anyone out there have handy Castros slash line when batting 3rd vs. other parts of the lineuo (1,2,6,)?
  8. Anyone to watch out for in the 2012 draft? The Astros and Twins will likely be hard to beat, but I think this Cubs team has a special kind of awful and might be able to pull it out.
  9. Cubs should probably watch some game tape of the Reds to learn how your supposed to play baseball.
  10. If it makes The Cubs feel any better, it will likely be 2 nights in a row that theyve sent the home teams fans home very happy, and isnt that what baseballs all about?
  11. Juan Pierre lite oh joy But hes small and white, so they better start cranking out the jersey tees.
  12. And Kid K more than likely hands over yet another game to a division rival. How bout that.
  13. It seems as though its at least once per game when the Cubs load the bases with less than 2 out and come up with 0-1 run out of it. Thats not good.
  14. All around good day for the Smokies so far. Whitenack 7 IP 3 H 0 ER 2 BB 5 K Ha 1-4 3B LaMahieu 2-4 2B Vitters 2-4 2B And whose this catcher, Luis Flores. Ive never heard of the guy.
  15. What's going on with Jay? 7 ER 3 BB 1 K in 3 IP. Lorick was also bad, giving up 6 ER in 4 IP.
  16. I just wish I knew what to make of the guy. Hes only 25(almost), and hits for OK average, but 0 power. Its not like hes been in the system forever, he was drafted in '08, and considering all we really need is a bench bat, I think that one of the sluggers would have been a better choice.
  17. Think of him as Augie Ojeda with more walks and outfield experience and without the ability to play SS. Wouldn't it be easier to just say Sam Fuld? Campana is a poor man's Sam Fuld. I wonder why they didn't just call up one of the sluggers then. If they wanted a defensive guy who can't hit they had Fernando Perez already on the 40 man.
  18. Think of him as Augie Ojeda with more walks and outfield experience and without the ability to play SS. Wouldn't it be easier to just say Sam Fuld?
  19. Seconded Thirded. Plus if Jackson is still doing well come middle of summer it will be easier to fit him into the OF. Even though I don't want his arbitration clock starting while still probably having to learn/adjust and the team going nowhere.... While to us, it might seem like a good iden unless a teams like 12 games back, rarely will you see major pieces shed in may. In mid June, if were in the same position, which is likely, were more likely to see a move like that. I agree that Detroit would be a good fit for Byrd or Fukudome, and I'm thinking that The Angels may well be interested in Pena.
  20. No complaints I guess. If he's half as white and gritty as he looks, the fans and the organization alike will love him.
  21. The Royals are now calling up LHP Danny Duffy. Is he another on of their stud prospects?
  22. RIP Harmon. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Minnesota-Twins-Harmon-Killebrew-dies-at-74-051711?GT1=39002 Hes still showing more signs of life than the current Twins.
