  1. Hopefully we can get some vintage Wood-Marshall-Marmol and all will be good.
  2. This is the point where Quade would once have let Dempster bat, and hed be a quick out and promptly surrender 2-4 runs the next inning. Progress.
  3. With help from the Cincy LF bouncing off the padding in left, just beyond the Cubs bullpen. Ball bounced off wall and rolled to fence, and the LF stumbled the whole way there. Yeah, Len described him as a "Soriano-esque leadoff hitter" when he had his AB in the top of the inning and said the Reds want him in the lineup for his bat but it's an "adventure" with him in the OF. Talk about an understatement. As bad as Soriano has screwed up that was just brutal. Yonder Alonso, huh?. Didnt know they even called him up, but I guess they needed to find some way to unblock him with Votto cemented at 1st. I wonder if they'll try to trade Votto at any point next season. Hes slated to make 9.5 mil in '12 and 17 mil in '13, but considering Pujols and Fielders pending pay days, that will be a steal.
  4. What in the world? Traded for Brandon Inge. Where have you been?
  5. Maybe if they keep him at leadoff 1. 101AB: .376/.411/.535/.946 2. 176 AB .335/.359/.449/.808 3. 183 AB .224/.251/.322/.573
  6. Maybe LeBrons departure just took down the entire state.
  7. Can we give them weapons, or will it just be hand-to-hand combat? I need to know if I'm going to organize the betting. I'd have thought that if Mojo were to fight someone to the death it would be davearm.
  8. While I do believe Ozzie belongs in the hall, but does this mean that Omar Vizquel belongs as well? While Omar has 11 GGs to Ozzies 13, Omar also has a slightly better offensive line as well, and could potentially end up in the exclusive 3000 hits club, although hes probably have to stick it out for another 2+ years. Ozzie is somewhat of a household name, while to many, Omars just a guy, despite the fact that their careers are almost parrallel, in fact, it seems as though Omar was the overall better player. Omar .272/.337/.353/.691 80 HR Ozzie .262/.337/.328/.666 28 HR
  9. I could be sompletely wrong on this, and I sometimes, often am, but I remember hearing at one point that Rudy Jaramillos philosophy was built around an overly agressive approach at the plate.
  10. Lets hope the Cubs can...steal a win from Mike Leake.
  11. Michael Burgess is starting to hit a bit. In his last 10 games, he has a line of .333/.395/.641 with 4 HR. Id very much like it if he could pan out.
  12. So you think that we'll be able to get a package, built around either a 21 year old 2011 1st Round Draft pick, or a power hitting, but injured 1B whose under team control for a few more years for 2 months of A Ram?
  13. They'll also have lost Pujols. Right, but they'll still have Holliday and Wainwright, along with productive cheap players like Jaime Garcia, Jay and Frese and elite prospects in Shelby Miller and that other guy whose name I can't remember offhand. We have Starlin Castro and Brett Jackson. That's pretty much it. And Garza, Dempster and Zambrano. Soto and Ramirez possibly. As well as Byrd, Marshall, Marmol, Cashner. Even Soriano can us 20 some home runs a year until he finally goes away. Its not like we dont have our share of good pieces.
  14. much like alcohol, tobacco, half of the food we eat, and a bunch of other things people do everyday.
  15. Because the longtime GM put them in a terrible hole, and a new direction would mean becoming good? That and the fact that they'd offer them lots of money. Most players tend to like that type of compensation, no matter the team or its direction. Additionally, maybe there's something to be said about coming to a team like the Cubs and being the cornerstone of a 2-3 year building process, and being able to compete all the while as opposed to joining the Yankees or Red Sox and simply being another piece. When the Cubs finally do win it all, every player, manager, and executive is going to wish they could have been a part of it.
  16. This goes double for online poker. The US is the only country that places restrictions on it, and the restrictions basically kill it in this country. Swing and a miss. The US restrictions have completely killed it (banhammered) and it is pretty regulated through most of Europe. But yeah, it's really stupid. Legalize, set standard practices, regulate it and tax it. same with online sports gambling. or really online gambling in general. it's really obnoxious that there are massive deficits and yet lawmakers are ruling out significant revenue streams because they enjoy legislating their own morals onto the entire country. Legalize weed, gambling, and brothels, tax the hell out of all of them and there's a much better answer to fixing the debt than a bunch of old guys arguing, who can then go off to a brothel and gamble while smoking weed.
  17. No kidding. Marmol and Byrd have no keeper value? There are very justifiable reasons to want to trade Marmol ASAP, but his lack of value to the club going forward isn't anywhere near the list. The only way his analysis makes sense is if Jonah Keri is in the "Cubs won't compete for at least 3-4 years" camp. What it comes down to is that a lot of people dont seem to think theres a difference between competing and becoming instant favorites to win the World Series.
  18. What it comes down to is that were going to have to look beyond 2012, and I know that can be hard. You can say we've been patient for 103 years, but in reality, non of us have been patient longer than Indians, Brewers, Astros, or Mariners fans. We'd all be thrilled if they could somehow turn this mess into a 95 win team, but thats not very likely. I think we can actually be above .500, but were probably going to have to give them a few years to build a champion, and like I said before, this team has a ton of money coming off the books between 2012-2014, as well as some solid talent on the farm.
  19. Jesus Christ Yeah, yeah, I know the difference between the possessive your and you're, meaning you are, but forgive me if I dont put 110% into my spelling and grammar when it comes to posting about are our awful baseball team.
  20. Reclamation project anyone? I thought he was more like 28-30 though.
  21. Not often when you see a guy get demoted 2 levels in a season, is it? Wallach has only been demoted 1 level this season. I thought he started off in Tennessee. Guess not.
  22. I said Id be happy if we got 1 of him or Maples, so if we miss out on Maples as well, Ill be very dissapointed.
