  1. Good to know I'm back on your radar. I was beginning to feel neglected. Are Erik, Davearm and Hollansdsworths Mug on vacation? Still, if I make I trade proposal I acknowledge that it's not likely but everyone involve gets something of value. Never have I made a suggestion in which the other team involved seemingly go out of the way to help the Cubs while they acquire our spare parts.
  2. So should Beast Mode be changed to Juice Mode?
  3. Yes It actually did somewhat cross my mind but If the Brewers can get Fielder back it will be at their price, and if Braun misses time it will be 50 games which will have a substantial impact on their 2011 season but not so much the life of the contract. If anything it could push them to sign or trade for a cheap outfielder who upon Brauns return could be either traded or be a solid bench bat. A Marlon Byrd type perhaps.
  4. I don't understand. Why would ESPN even care about this? Because the Brewers dont play in New York or Boston so have no right to be relevant
  5. They basically don't even care about it anymore. Once Garza and Castro turned into Cashner and Brett Jackson which turned into McNutt and Szczur which turned into Colvin and Jay Jackson which turned into Matt Camp and Justin Berg they just said to hell with it. Maybe we can just pay for Lackey and Daisukes surgeries and call it even.
  6. They've found that dress shirts and coats don't tend to fit as well over the jersey.
  7. Let's see. The Cardinals lose Pujols. Brewers likely to lose Fielder and Braun for 50 games. The NL Central is suddenly very winnable. The Reds are once again the favorites, but moves that otherwise would have made us better but not necessarily condendera could suddenly make us into contenders. I'm not saying Jed and Theo should do anything to compromise the future, but they should definitely think in terms that winning now is very possible.
  8. If they legitimately felt that he wouldnt get caught, it's possible. I guess I just can't comprehend anyone knowingly using anything like that willfully after everything that happened with Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Clemans et al. Maybe someone desperate to make a name for themself or get themselves a big contract or an older player looking to buy themselves a few more years but someone in their prime and as established as Braun who already has a lifetime contract.
  9. Probably PR, but via Brewerfan, according to Tom Haudricourt, those in Brauns camp are very confident that the suspension will be overturned and it was something that shouldn't have been leaked out.
  10. Would a good man do such as awful thing to the best fans in the world?
  11. Something like that. More if a dont ask dont tell thing. They needed him to play through pain, and he was going to need something to get him through it or speed up the healing. He didn't ask what it was, they didn't tell him. I doubt that it wod mark the first time that's happened in pro sports. I believe that with steroids you only have to use it once and it can show up in your system for up to 6 months. Are you just making [expletive] up? Most synthetic testosterone is down to undetectable levels after 7-10 days. Not making stuff up, maybe I'm wrong.
  13. But it's not just about "juicing". The primary purpose of these steroids is for healing of tissue. However, they're banned non the less. I know Braun has a history of back problems and whatever it was he was suffering from last year. There was a lot of talk that he could be DLd but it never happened. I'm willing to bet that whatever tested positive for was so that he could play through it. It makes sense that The Brewers, knowing that it was likely Fielders last season with them weren't about to chance the season slipping away so the did what they had to do to keep Braun off the DL.
  14. It would bad for his rep, but a huge win for the MLB drug policy if it came out that he took it unknowingly argueably more so than if he knowingly roide up. At this point players already know to stay away. However, this would now show the teams that they cant just give a player dealing with injury a banned substance and pass it off as a mystery drug and let them claim they had no idea what they took. I'm not saying Braun is an innocent pawn in all of this, but he will be used as an example. I'm sure uncle Bud would prefer it be anyone other than Braun, who has been the key in The Brewers rising to height of popularity they've never seen but its out of his hands.
  15. First things first: I don't think that Braun is a roider, at lest in the Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, etc. sense of the word. However, Braun did nurse an injury for a good portion of the season, and he never was on the DL. It's not inconceivable that they gave him an injection of sorts which they simply didn't tell him what it was for his own good so that he could avoid the DL and keep on playing. Even though he likely knew damn well that whatever he was given was some variety of steroid, as long as he didn't ask what it was, they weren't obligated to tell him what it was so he has the right to plead ignorance. I'm sure this wouldn't be the first case of something like this happening. However, one thing against him is that there is a 0 tolerance policy, and they'll likely jump on the opportunity to make an example of someone, especially one of the top stars in the game today. The fact that he has somewhat of a good guy image, though a bit of a douche could make them even more eager to use him as an example.
  16. If the Reds and White Sox wanted to work a 3 team trade involving Floyd and Alonzo, I'm willing to bet that both sides could end up with something better than a [expletive] sandwich from The Cubs.
  17. What is your love for Trumbo about? He really isn't very good. Love and having interest are 2 very different things. If we miss out on Fielder, we'll be left scrambling for a starting 1st baseman for now and the future. I don't want to give Pena or Kotchman a 3 year deal and I don't want to give up too much for Loney. Trumbo should be at a very reasonable price, but as I said, I'd much rather see what Morales would cost.
  18. So between 1B and DH, the Angles have Pujols, Morales, Abreu, and Trumbo. Abreu can still play the occasional outfield, but they also have Trout, Wells, Hunter, and Bourjos. Hunter and Abreu will be clearing out next year, but they'd still have 2 DHs in Trumbo and Morales. If we couldn't get Fielder, I'd be interested in Trumbo, but risk or not, I'd really like to see what Morales would cost. With all of the money invested in Pujols, Wells, Wilson, and Weaver, you'd think they'd be agressively shopping Morales and Trumbo to fill any needs they may have because I doubt that they'll be able to make any more big signings anytime soon.
  19. Remember Buehrle only got 4 because of how weak the rest of the SP market is. In the 2012 FA class I doubt he'd get that.
  20. But like I said, you never know the next time that a 27 year old elite player will even be available regardless of their physical build. That may be true, but it's not a compelling argument for entering into a contract you think will turn out to be a mistake. I have no reason not to believe that Fielder doesnt have at least 4-5 prime years left. Could be more. Would you really be upset if we got 4-5 prime years of Fielder and then he hits an early decline around age 33? He'd still be young enough where we could send him off to DH.
  21. When all these guys start getting offers for 5-6 year deals, are we going to have to look elsewhere because of a fear of "overpaying?" We need a big bat AND one of them. Of the guys listed, Cain and Hamels are the only ones that I think would truely be worth 5-6 year deals. Danks and Greinke will likely get 4-5. Marcums a bit older so I'll say 3-4. McCarthy and Sanchez really arent on that level. A good 2012 could get them a decent 2-3 year. Liriano as well, depending on his 2012 could get anything from a 1-4 year deal. I thought that Lincecum was in that class as well. And who knows, a certain tempermental Cubs pitcher could have a huge, breakdown-free season and end up with a 2-3 year deal assuming his option is declined or doesnt vest.
  22. Is it so hard for you to comprehend that I simply think Fielder is a poor risk on a long-term deal? Is that concept too difficult to get your head around? It doesn't mean I don't want the Cubs to sign any elite players, ever. Sheesh. If you're talking true elite players, they're almost always going to require a 6-8 year deal, unless they're at the tail end of their prime, at least the way the market is constructed now. Also, more and more teams are locking up young star players long term, which is why so many people want to jump on Fielder. Who knows the next time an elite player at a young age is going to even hit the maket. I'm not afraid of a 6-8 year deal for a guy that can be expected to age well. Fielder ain't that guy. But like I said, you never know the next time that a 27 year old elite player will even be available regardless of their physical build.
