  1. fWAR. By bWAR, Machado has three seasons better than Seager’s rookie season. This year, however, Machado’s not on pace for a better season than Seager’s rookie season primarily due to how poorly his defense grades out at SS. Is there some consensus out there that fWAR is better than bWAR? I go to BR more quickly than I do FG, but largely only due to the fact that I find the site easier to navigate. I prefer fWAR, I think FG is easier to navigate than BR, ha. The answer is probably a blend of the two to find true value. The super easy way to explain why I like fWAR more is how fWAR values the underlying things guys do vs bWAR going off of more what guys actually did on surface numbers. Is that still true for hitting and defense stats? I'm pretty sure they are very similar, UZR vs DRS for defense, and both use wOBA as the base for their offensive WAR. I think B-R actually normalizes for league more than FG does now. With pitching you still have the RA vs FIP situation, but for hitters idk that FG is really more about valuing the underlying things guys do than B-R these days.
  2. Since his debut, the dude only trails Mike Trout in WAR, in all of baseball, pitchers included. He’s a monster, and a lot of people don’t appreciate just how [expletive] good he is.
  3. seriously were you always like this? i dont remember you always being like this but i'm not sure. i just was not ready for the cubs to be this depressing this year Yikes, I need to remind myself that maybe (hopefully) these are just game thread panic posts, and not serious opinions.
  4. Baseball is new to you, huh?
  5. I agree with you guys that Trout will probably still be the best player in baseball in a few years, but if there is a candidate to overtake him it's Correa. I agree with everything you wrote except Trout or Harper reaching another level and putting up Bonds-like numbers at some point in their careers. I feel like this is as good as it gets for those two (damn good). I think they've reached their potential ceilings. They could still get better, but I doubt that will happen. I feel like Correa has more variance and has a chance to improve and become way better. Honestly, I just was trying to compare Correa against Harper, and said if Harper is getting $400 million then how much is Correa getting. Correa put up 6.3 WAR in only 109 games last year at the age of 22. Kris Bryant is also better than Correa. Bryce Harper posted a 9.5 WAR at 22, Correa’s ceiling isn’t higher than his. You’re wrong man.
  6. Correa will hit free agency a year older, and quite frankly, he doesn't have the ceiling that Harper does. It's much more likely that by free agency that Correa is basically a poor-man's Josh Donaldson. Plenty good, but not a an MVP caliber talent. I don't know about that. I guess I could see Correa slowing down and/or losing range as he gets older. If that happens he should move over to 3B. I'm very high on Correa. He would have put up a monster year in terms of WAR if he didn't miss so much time last season. I think his ceiling is actually higher than Harper, but the chances of reaching it are low. If he can stay at SS and actually reaches those ARod comps he is the most valuable player in MLB. I'm not exactly sure how good he is defensively, but I think he has a fair chance of staying at SS. Higher ceiling than Harper? Better than Trout if he hits his ceiling? Nah, sorry.
  7. 4-5ish my point was that our best players would still have seasons that we'd expect out of them and he'd still beat them out I considered this option, but I just really expect Bryant to be in that 8 or more WAR category. I still think he has one more gear left offensively.
  8. We are more than double them. 98 to 45. I thought CSN had a graphic up that had them at +50 Do the runs from this game not count?
  9. To be fair to that guy though, maybe that's just a dumb opinion he has? From limited browsing in another thread I found someone saying not signing Heyward was a "bullet dodged" and that guy responded saying So maybe he's not a complete idiot?
  10. He's still throwing the exact same 5 pitches you listed.
  11. Wasn't that "Y'all thought this show was over motherfuckers!" - Dexter Fowler? Or are you making fun of the people who actually thought that was Theo?
  12. Pretty obviously Fowler saying that in the video.
