  1. anyone get that video to work yet?
  2. well...eyre will be facing us this series pound him cubs pound the phillies please, at least 2, hopefully 3
  3. reds have fans? you live here. i find more st. louis and cubs fans more than i find reds fans in this town at least. i think we only have the smattering of reds fans because of the bats. as soon as i get my off days confirmed, i'm looking forward to seeing wrigley ohio next week (and evening my record at cubs games. tampa, ew). speaking of tampa... brother...you speaka the trutha RAYS HATERS UNITE! :amen: i think the reverse is true. i hate tampa not because we got swept there, but because of their front running obnoxious bandwagon fans. the three games down there were packed. the recent series they had against the los angeles angels of anaheim near san bernadino in the state of california in the united states of north america on planet earth in the solar system of the milky way galaxy in the local group, in tampa, where the two best teams (record wise ) of the american league were doing battle, the place was half full on tv. that insults me as a baseball fan.
  4. that may be the only solution because different people are going to react different ways and some people saying "season over" are just being emotional and most likely tongue in cheek... i have always been able to find an update in a game thread and i usually laugh at all of the noise as well...oh well...if this really pisses people off...two game threads is probably the way to go
  5. question...for the folks that think the game threads are bad...do you watch baseball with your friends? are you guys holy angels of light while doing so? i would be surprised if you were
  6. so d lee is just a little banged up right?
  7. maybe after his contract is up in 2010 If they suck in '09 or '10, they might be willing to trade him to get rid of the $10m he's owed in 2010. But, Tampa is not going to suck in '09 or '10. nope, they are going to be scary good next year...especially if they make a few needed moves um...why in the world would you want pena?
  8. just one of those games...we will get them...i gotta good feeling about this game guys
  9. soto is pissed come on guys get your heads on straight dammit
  10. yeah...but you are only saying that because of your handle name ;)
  11. They played well last September. How they do in September will have little to no bearing on how they do in October outside of actually getting them there. really? not the end of september...they were just worn out...they looked awful for the fish and then not the best vs. the reds?!? i think... i understand where you are coming from but if you look at the cubs in the playoffs last year, they sure did look a lot like the cubs from that series in miami
  12. i guess you aren't satisfied with his .375/.463/.607 line in august? i guess you are pining for the normal aramis rather than the ted williams that he's been this month? OPS+ the last 5 years: 138, 135, 126, 129, 130 EqA: .307, .302, .292, .293, .297 so i have to say that i have no idea what you're referring to. I should have clarified...I'm a simplistic creature yearning for more HR power out of the 3-4 slots where it's typically found on most teams. Aramis isn't having a bad year at all, but his odd slack (for him) in the HR department combined with Lee's regression to the norm is a tad frustrating given the typical expectations of those spots in the lineup. The power boost throughout the various memebers of most of the 5-8 slots over the year have obviously helped make up for it, but I'd prefer to see the 2 guys in front of them, especially Aramis, to be adding more of their own. who doesn't want to see Lee and Ramirez power up? lucky that others have been carrying their weight. they went into a coma last post-season, would be nice if they were awake for this one. It's worrisome to think that the Cubs might have to rely on a group of players who are overproducing in October, because it's very likely they will no longer be overproducing at that point. Those players should be augmenting the performances of the 3-4 hitters, not making up for them for huge chunks of the season. Aramis is just fine, but I agree that Lee just doesnt cut it anymore as a number 3. Number 3 should be your best all around hitter, and Lee aint it this year. A productive Soriano would be an ideal #3, but he doesnt want to hit there. I wouldnt be opposed to batting DeRosa 3 for a little while and see how it works out. I also find it a bit disturbing that the best offense in baseball has 1 guy OPSing above .900, and its a pitcher. wow, i did not know that...good find...that IS slightly disturbing... honestly, I think that september will be the test for this team...i think they have a chance at playing mediocre ball and still squeaking in the post season... however, i don't want to see them do that. i want to see them slaughter teams in september because i don't want to be let down like last year
  13. ESPN will be all over the cubs in the series/winning the series...no doubt about it...if they do it this year...everyone will be following that series

  15. His wrist was fine in the first month... Then it's just totally unacceptable that he can't make an adjustment. I just don't understand how you don't try something different. The only thing he looks like he's trying is to be less open in his stance.....surely that was what gave him the biggest success in the first place? i cringe even watching his cuts in the on deck circle something isn't right....... the one thing i have noticed with lee is that he stopped doing the head check ala coco that he was doing when he was raking earlier this season i don't know why he stopped doing it because it was working
  16. holy crap...i didn't know c patt was the 3rd pick damn
