  1. They're letting J J start again? Yes!!!
  2. Wellington Castillo had a 2 run double, I-Cubs up 4-3. Dubois followed with a 2 run pinch bomb on his first pitch, 6-3 I-Cubs.
  3. I don't know what he averages, but Atkins has been in the mid-80s with his fastball tonight. Oh, and he just gave up his 2nd Home Run of the inning... To Jay Payton.
  4. Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.
  5. I realize I'm getting a little ahead, but who's due to start Friday for Iowa? I'm taking the boys to that game, our 4th of the year.
  6. I'd be happy with any of these three (since I can't decide between them). The Merkle game between the Giants and Cubs. Bobby Thomson's "Shot heard round the world" game. Larsens WS perfect game.
  7. Considering my mom is from MO, and pretty much her entire family still lives there, I think I have as much right to make fun as anyone. Don't worry, I think much more highly of those from Misery than I do of those from Minnesota. Besides, they did back out of a 4 game deal with Iowa at the last second. Less than 6 months before the first of those, IIRC. if you wanna make fun of people from missouri, try and be a little more creative than misery. it makes you look like a 10 year old. Ok, how about this. You can have the southern two tiers of counties in Iowa and the IQ in both states goes up.

  9. It will be interesting to see how Dillard's AAU connections translate to recruiting those kids.
  10. This also means Misery won't be able to back out of a 4 game series with Iowa at the last minute. Regardless of how the conference is aligned, Misery and Iowa will be in the same division, playing every year. Hope they're ready for that first trip to Kinnick in 2012 or 2013.
  11. from The Des Moines Register Postponed due to cold? The forecast says temps in the 50s. It was in the 50's, but the rain and 30 mile per hour winds didn't do much for making it FEEL like it was in the 50's. I heard them mention wind chill at least once yesterday. Heartland my butt, more like pansyland. I know, I played in the snow once back in the day.

  13. it decreases every day he's down though. part of the issue is him not being settled into an everyday role by the time his options are up. I feel pretty confident they're not calling him up to sit him. That'd be like moving your best starter to middle relief, or batting your best on base guy 8th. Come on guys, give them the benefit of the doubt. Lets be fair....they've given us every reason to NOT give them the benefit of the doubt. Read what he said closely. It's times like this I think that green font thing needs to be made mandatory.
  14. This much is very true. They'd stand to make quite a bit more money. Also, I can't find it, but I saw an article that showed the research agreement within B10 schools amounted to way more $ to each school than even OSU's athletic revenue stream. I want to say it was in the neighborhood of $300 mil... per school. Texas would stand to gain additional revenue from that stream also.

  16. He may very well end up there some, but Barnes is NOT a 4, not even close. He's a 2/3 in a 6'8 body. Very smooth, very quick, but McDermott was better around (his back to) the basket then Barnes was. He's not a low block player.
  17. My understanding is that is just from tv revenue. That's a more recent list than I posted. It's all revenue into athletic depts, not just TV. His is from 08-09, mine was 07-08. As was said earlier, Texas is a cash cow.
  18. I think that claim is a bit of a stretch. I find it extremely difficult to believe that Northwestern makes half of what Texas makes even with the BTN and revenue sharing money included. That's because it's not true, at least according to this: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college/2009/07/how-much-revenue-did-your-favorite-fbs-school-take-in-in-200708-this-chart-will-tell-you.html Now, that is from 2007-2008, and it has probably changed some, but I can't imagine it has changed enough to make up for.... Northwestern (last in B10) - $41,835,733 in revenues Texas (#1 in nation) - $120,288,370 For those that can't read, the link shows that in 07-08 school year, Texas was #1 in the nation in revenues and 6 Big Ten schools in the Top 20 (#2 OSU, #4 Mich, #5 Wisky, #6 PSU, #15 Iowa and #16 MSU).
  19. I dunno. I'm worried about where we'll end up. Not a lot of people clamoring for the Kansas market. Kansas seems like it would draw a bigger market for the Big Ten than Mizzou would. Missouri brings you St. Louis and KC, and Illinois already brings in the St. Louis Market. Kansas brings you Kansas City, and better national exposure in basketball. I can see where you're coming from, but if the Kansas Board of Regents won't let the 2 schools split, that puts Kansas in a hole. KSU is not a member of the AAU, and I don't know if they meet any requirements for joining. Kansas is a member (as is Mizzou and Nebby) which gives them a bonus when talking about joining the B10, but AAU membership (or ability to become a member) will be a big step in joining the B10, which possibly screws KState, and therefore Kansas.
  20. I dunno. I'm worried about where we'll end up. Not a lot of people clamoring for the Kansas market. I'm sure they'll slide into a reformed Mountain West conference nicely. They're going to join Iowa State?
  21. I was actually thinking that Demp better take advantage since the Pirates are resting Wagner for some strange reason. Maybe he's day to day with an injury?
  22. I'd love Webster to get that last assistant spot. I doubt it happens though, but who knows.
