  1. Well, all Cub minor leaguer starters are on pitch counts. I don't know whether his pitch count might be lower than other starters or not but it's not surprising that he didn't make it through 4 since he struck out 7. Also, Simpson threw 3.2 last time out. At first, I thought his start got cut short due to a rain delay. There was a 56 minute delay in that game. But the opposing pitcher went 6 IP, then I didn't know what to think. At least we know he's not hurt. Speaking of which, has anyone gotten confirmation that McNutt only had a blister? That is entirely possible regarding the rain delay. I was not aware they had had one. Rain delay had nothing to do with it. The delay was a suspension after 8 innings with the game resumed the next day. All our starters are on 70-75 pitches the first few times around and Hayden threw 67 pitches in 3.2 innings on Thursday with 43 strikes, hence the 7k. He will be in the same boat today followed again by Eric Jokisch. Thanks for the clarification!
  2. Could really use a Cubs win today...

  4. I believe Simpson only went 3.1 IP last time. Is he on a pitch count/inning cap or are they just stretching him out?
  5. Lee put up OPSes of .913, .823, and .972 in '07, '08, and '09. I'm not sure it would have been reasonable to expect him to ever repeat his '05 performance. He was still a darn good player after his wrist healed completely. IIRC, the power was just never the same though. EDIT: NVM. But his stats have slipped since 09.
  6. Hooray for more Simpson.
  7. Lock this thread. And then burn it.
  8. Be a third generation player?
  9. Gameday has totally screwed up on the Castro AB.
  10. Great idea, Quade. Let's just throw Shark out there and go for the trifecta.
  11. This is entirely on Quade. What an idiot.
  12. who is he and why can we not get him out? Demps appears to be tired.
  13. Wow has Cerda really walked 4 times? EDIT: 4/5 of Burgess' hits have now been for HRs. I think that boy has some power.
  14. Pretty respectable line from Demps so far. Digging all the K's. Hopefully he can go at least 7 in preparation for tomorrow's experiment.
  15. bad luck. Seriously. I can't remember the last time I've seen someone hit stuff hard but right at people this much.
  16. Can Soto please get started already?
  17. Cubs have done a surprisingly decent job of not wasting runners in scoring position.
  18. I feel like all Burgess ever does is HR or get out. EDIT: And after a quick glance at his stats I suppose that would be because all 3 of his hits so far have been HRs...
  19. If they lose tonight, it's a GUARANTEE that the season is over.
