  1. Absolutely fantastic game for Carlos. GET SOME RUNS COBS
  2. I like that the Cubs saved their worst offensive effort on the young season for arguably the best starting effort.
  3. The three Ks or the 24 pitches? Both, I suppose.
  4. Having been to a Pads game last week and living with a diehard Pads fan, I can firmly say their lineup is horrible. Bordering on mid 00's Cubs bad.
  5. So what is the weather/conditions actually like in Chicago?
  6. I haven't seen a game thread yet, presumably because no one cares. I'm procrastinating over here so if you do actually care... http://i.imgur.com/82wxT.gif On the mound for my hometown Padres: http://i.imgur.com/MaJge.jpg Tim "I kinda look like Vance" Stauffer 0-1, 4.80 ERA, 15 IP, 1.867 WHIP, 7/5 K/BB And opposing him on behalf of our beloved Cobs: http://i.imgur.com/obefx.jpg Z 2-0, 6.11 ERA, 17.2 IP, 1.585 WHIP, 13/9 K/BB And to provide a brief summary of today's goals via silly interwebs pictures... What Z needs to say to walks today: http://i.imgur.com/o9oNQ.jpg And where the Cubs need to be standing at the end of the game: http://i.imgur.com/zTCnM.jpg In sum: Their mascot is creepy/awful. Just win.
  7. Man it would be really crazy if a couple of these Game 1 upsets carried over to series wins.
  8. I'd say the Heat would make for a better mirror of the Bears' situation as they would be like the Packers - a bit underachieving but capable of wining it all. The Knicks are probably more of a rival though. I think, the Bulls don't really have a rival that's comparable to Packers/Bears. Come to think of it, does the NBA really have any classic rivalries? Lakers vs. Celtics? I thought about that but can you really be hated rivals when you are on other sides of the country from each other and play two regular season games a year and sometimes play in the Finals. I guess when most people think of NBA rivals this is probably what they think though. The NBA seems to be a league where rivalries are developed throughout a season and go on a season by season basis depending on the players on the teams. Pretty much. You could make a decent case the Cavs and Heat had something approaching a rivalry this year. Hawks - Magic have had a rather heated relationship for the last few seasons. Lakers and Kings had a pretty decent run back in the 00's. Related to this subject, the blatant desperation in the media for there to be anything even remotely approaching a rivalry between the Knicks and the Celts is hilarious.

  11. I feel a lot better about the Bulls struggling after seeing the Heat, Spurs and Lakers all struggle too. You forgot the Magic as well. I'm sure the Celtics are salivating at the opportunity to out-struggle everyone else. On the contrary, I have a feeling the Knicks are about to find out how non-contending they really are this week. Thankfully, the Celtics wouldn't want to leave us disappointed.
  12. Damnit. So close. Good effort by Mateo. Not liking the chances of the lineup in the 9th either.

  14. This has been a pretty crazy set of Game 1's
